So the long Hari Raya weekend has passed. Many are still on holiday for the whole week but for people like me, it’s back to work as usual. A good long weekend is always welcomed as it gives me a chance to do 2 very important things. One is to cook up a storm and the other is of course, get the family members together at my place for a round of bonding and feasting. I don’t get to cook very often as most of my weekends are usually occupied with mundane errands and chores. The 2 days in a … [Read more...]

Chill out at IL FARO @ Pavilion Kuala Lumpur
When Chef Willy Chan buzzed me to tell me that he’s now at this place called Il Faro in Pavilion, I didn’t need much persuasion to pop over. I’m not a frequent visitor to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur but when he told me Il Faro is next to the overhead pedestrian link bridge crossing to KLCC, locating it was not a problem. I met Chef Willy when he was helming Bondi Cafe in Puchong (which has since closed) and what was memorable then was his awesome focaccia bread. The guy’s a wizard with … [Read more...]
Taste Enclave @ Avenue K – feasting at the mini restaurants!
The first time we were at Taste Enclave, we already loved the charming modern food atrium in Avenue K. We sampled food from various outlets as well as their mini restaurants. Food from the 3 mini restaurants was pretty good. In fact, they were enticing enough for us to return there a second time for more of their offerings. Mushroom Omelette This time we checked out Grandeur Teppan Yaki and Xi Qing Seafood Restaurant. Our dinner kicked off with several dishes from Grandeur Teppan … [Read more...]
Bulgogi Brothers stir up a Burger Revolution!
The burger craze had its run last year in the Klang Valley. Burger joints were popping up a dime a dozen; everyone was jumping onto the hot bandwagon and the Klang Valley folks were spoilt for choices. Not only were the outlets competing ferociously with each other, the playing field was littered with enthusiastic food reviewers who were battling each other to see who could win the crown of being the “burger king” or “burger queen”! I stayed away from the battle field. Simply because I’m not … [Read more...]
Epicuro @ Damansara Uptown – delectable porky bites!
“Where would you recommend for a good meal?” I often get asked this perennial question. I usually drill further to find out what particular cuisine the person has in mind before giving any recommendation. These days, if someone asks me where to go for some casual dining, western-style, I find myself saying unreservedly “Epicuro”! Ever since I checked them out a couple of months ago, I have been back there a few times. What draws me back to this simple unassuming little restaurant is … [Read more...]

I’m not kidding when I say decent sushi can be found for just RM2 or RM3 per plate. And it’s right smack in the middle of Subang Jaya too! I’m talking about this place where you can “Eat like a Boss!” - it’s Sushi Flash. I couldn’t believe it either when I first heard about this. The people at Sushi Flash believe in providing good quality Japanese food at high efficiency with minimal waiting time. The sushis are prepared fresh and placed on the conveyor belt and customers just take … [Read more...]
Mediteca – new a la carte menu!
It has been almost a year since Mediteca launched its porky items in their menu. A year of testing the market and their customers’ preference… it’s time to revamp the menu. And revamp they did… throwing out less popular dishes and adding on new exciting ones. After lots of brainstorming (and kitchen storming too), Chef Riccardo and his team have come up with some winning new dishes. We started off our meal with glasses of chilled prosecco and freshly baked foccacia bread… a nice … [Read more...]
Affordable Japanese Buffet at TAO @ Sunway Giza
Tao doesn’t really brand itself as a Japanese restaurant. It prides itself in serving a variety of popular Asian cuisine, with Japanese influences in a major portion of its menu. Its All-You-Can-Eat buffet is extremely popular and because it is one of the very few restaurants that offer this “all you can eat concept” for dinner and dinner every day! Diners can take their pick from dishes laid out on the buffet counter as well as order unlimited portions from their a la carte menu. … [Read more...]
My Marrakech Tea
I love tea. All kinds of tea… Chinese, Japanese, English, bags and tins of them fill my kitchen larder. In the office, I have packets and sachets of green tea to keep the oxidants away. However, all those are going to take a back seat now because I’ve just discovered a whole new tea experience… from the making of it to the delightful savouring. The NESCAFE Dolce Gusto cafe-style beverage system and the newly-launched Marrakech Tea has totally changed my mindset! The NESCAFE … [Read more...]
