This is what I have for lunch most days now... especially if I have had Village Park Nasi Lemak for breakfast!Just toss together some butterheads, cherry tomatoes and zucchini with these delicious Sesame Salad Dressing from Zanmai...They have a few varieties of Sesame Dressing - but I love their No-Oil Soya & Creamy versions. I combine both types and pour over the vegetables and you'd be surprised how refreshing & filling a lunch that can be! … [Read more...]

Nasi Lemak @ Village Park
Village Park Restaurant5 Jalan SS21/37Damansara Utama47400 Petaling JayaTel: 77107860Ever since the Fried Chillies' award given to Village Park for being the "Best Nasi Lemak in Klang Valley", there had been lots of reviews about this place. With so many raving write-ups about them, I knew it would be a matter of time before I make my way there. So this morning was the "right" time. "Right" because I had a chauffeur in LL to drive me to work and this place is actually quite close to where I … [Read more...]
Charms – revisited
It was LL's idea to go to Charms for lunch today. Yes, it's that gaily-decorated cafe you see as you walk (from the New Wing) towards the Old Wing's TGV cinema on the 2nd Floor. I've been there many times and have done an earlier review of this place.LL declared that he was famished, having skipped breakfast ... so he decided to order all the items listed here!Lamb Charmer (RM19.50) came sizzling on a hotpot stove with flames and all! 4 juicy pieces of lamb shoulders emanating a … [Read more...]
The Gelateria in KK
The Gelateria6 Jalan Anggerik Vanilla V31/VKota Kemuning40460 Shah AlamTel: 03-51221206I have lived in this neighbourhood for more than a year and never knew about the existence of this cafe until a colleague mentioned it. Tucked away in the middle of a side road behind the never-used multi-storey carpark in Kota Kemuning town centre, I would never have thought of venturing there if someone had not alerted me to it. I was given some good feedback about this place and armed with those positive … [Read more...]
Shanghai – Day 4
My friends have been asking me when I'm resuming my Shanghai posts as the last one was 2 weeks ago. OK, here's continuing the food fest ... on to Day 4!The highlight of that day was our trip to Zhouzhuang, a popular water village in the outskirts of Shanghai. We joined a local tour for the afternoon trip there. More about this later.Since we had the morning free before going to Zhouzhuang, my friend CH suggested we go to Carrefour as I wanted to buy some Shanghainese snacks. Now it seems … [Read more...]
Curry Laksa @ USJ14
Last Saturday after sending the car to the workshop in USJ, we were looking for some breakfast when I remembered a Curry Laksa review done by masak-masak a while ago. It was the curry laksa stall at a coffee-shop called Mei Sek, which faces the main (Summit-to-Puchong) road. It's certainly not hard to locate and parking was rather easy. What I remembered from masak-masak's post was that this Curry Laksa had pig's skin and that indeed was the main attraction! However, you need to pay more for … [Read more...]

Shanghai – Day 3
As my friend CH had to go to work on our 3rd day in Shanghai, we decided to explore the area near her neighbourhood. We took the free shuttle service available from her condominium - there're regular vans going to several key areas in the city.As we got onto the van, there were a couple signages inside which got me kinda perplexed.I'm sure the signs make perfect sense if you read the Chinese words... but the English translation was a bit confusing, don't you think?Anyway, since it was my … [Read more...]
Doing your own repairs
Are you one of those clever nifty people who can just do any repairs around the house with no problem at all? I am hopeless in such things. Any DIY task in the house will be made worse if I even just attempt it! Recently, the sink in my bathroom was not draining water as it should. Most of you would probably know how to suck or dislodge whatever that’s blocking the water pipe. But me - I had to call in a plumber! The same thing happened when there was some leaking under the kitchen … [Read more...]
Shanghai – Day 2
Day 2 - a Monday - that's the day we went to Hangzhou. It is the capital of Zhejiang province and located 180km southwest of Shanghai - 2 hours' drive away. Before we started the journey, we went looking for some local breakfast. Yon Ho was our choice as it's one of the largest chains of chinese fast food in Shanghai. Yon Ho is also the brandname of a popular soyamilk drink there. The interior was bright and cheerful with some chinese writings on a mirrored wall...My friend CH made the orders … [Read more...]
