The brand “XFrens” refers to a chain of popular restaurants located in Kemuning Utama, Subang, Puchong and Setia Alam. Yes, they are popular – I have seen the queues, especially during peak hours.
Their repertoire of dishes are mainly the kind of comfort food served in local “dai chow” and Chinese restaurants, as what we found out and we’ve been dining here a few times.

A favourite among many is their Stir-fried Sang Cheong with Dried Prawns & Chilli Padi. Essentially piggy fallopian tubes, these crunchy bites have a unique texture and zing from the chilli padi.
Coincidentally, most of the dishes we had here were served in claypots! Actually we like claypots as they are excellent in keeping the dishes warm throughout the meal. All the dishes we had here were good, no complaints at all. Flavours were well balanced and nicely executed and all these are perfect with plain rice.

We had Kampung Chicken in Wine, Braised Mutton, Seafood Hotplate, Claypot Housemade Tofu and Braised Brinjals with Minced Pork. There are a good variety of vegetables to choose from but the family’s favourite is the Stirfried Dragon Chives.

This outlet is in our neighbourhood and it is very likely that we will be visiting this restaurant many more times! Good food, friendly service and reasonable pricing – good motivators to revisit!
