Chalet – the pre-eminent Continental fine-dining restaurant at EQ Kuala Lumpur back in the 1980’s will make a special pop-up appearance from 24 July to 12 August 2023 at the hotel. If some of you can remember, Chalet, in its original incarnation, was a highly decorated & much-awarded restaurant housed in the original Hotel Equatorial. Its white linen-topped tables, gleaming tablewares and impeccable service marked an era of elegance and culinary excellence for memorable dining in those good old days.
During this limited time (24 July-12 August 2023), Chalet’s pop-up restaurant will house a revisit of well-loved traditions, particularly the demonstration of crepes being flambe’ed live. Fans of Chalet will get to savour many of its signature main courses again, including Émincé de Veau à la Zurichoise (Sliced Veal in Mushroom Cream Sauce served with Rosti Potatoes), roasted mustard-crusted Rack of Lamb, Swiss Cheese Fondue, Raclette Valaisanne and Lobster Thermidor. Of course, their signature Swiss Classic – Canard à la Presse will also be available.
Just like in the days of old, succulent juicy Roast Prime Ribs will be rolled out on a trolley and served tableside to diners. Who can forget their Crêpes Suzette, Soufflé and Sabayon – all these will be served as well and certainly something to look forward to, very much!
We had a chance to preview some of Chalet’s popular dishes recently… and they were oh-so-fine!
To further deepen the nostalgia, one of the original Chalet chefs – the much-loved Krishnan Ramachandran will be on hand to serve up flavours well-remembered from the 80’s. Additionally, the Sabayon team will be on hand to deliver a meal well-accompanied with a curated wine list of exclusive & impressive vintages and calibre.
