All you bread lovers out there, if you have never tried or been to The Bread Shop in Bukit Damansara, then it’s about time you make your way there. Tucked in a quiet road in the upmarket neighbourhood of Bukit Damansara, this cosy shop is a haven for bread lovers… as the moment you step in, you will be greeted by the wonderful aroma of bread-baking. That, is singularly one of the most delightful and heart-warming smells in the world!
Be sure to try their “Broom Bread”!
Set up by a family who obviously loves and knows their bread, The Bread Shop has been dishing out fresh robust loaves and pastries to their regulars since 2009. Preservative-free, their fresh breads are quickly snapped up by their customers who know their baking schedules … go a bit late and you run the risk of your favourite loaf being sold-out! Tall steel racks hold the loaves and pastries, cooling them before they are placed in the display counters and quite often these goodies don’t even reach the glass display counters – they go from the racks straight into the brown paperbags for takeaway! From organic wholegrain to multi-grain to buns to tarts, the choices can be mind-boggling and that’s why I ended up buying 2 big bagfuls of breads and buns!
There are also tall wooden tables and chairs set up for customers to have their meals…it’s all-day dining here. The day’s specials are written on a black board by the wall – choose from all kinds of sandwiches and snacks and of course, their array of baked goodies.
On the day I was there, their special was the Beef Burger (RM16.80). A thick fat juicy beef pattie flavoured wholesomely with fresh herbs and spices, sandwiched between two halves of a freshly-baked bun, with melting cheese dripping down the sides, it was supremely good!
I’m not sure if I loved the bun more or the fillings more! The bread was so fresh we had problem sawing it in half.
Their Roast Beef with Ciabatta (RM14.80)was another winner. Slices of homeroasted beef, fresh lettuce and tomatoe slices, tangy mustard cream crammed between slices of freshly baked ciabatta – that made a very filling and fulfilling lunch!
I am not much of a tart lover but somehow the Lemon Tart (RM5.80) here had me bowled over. It is seriously good tart. The pastry was both flaky and crunchy and the tart filling had the right amount of sugar and lemon balanced. I love the zesty tangy flavour and I’m hankering for it right now as I look at this photo.
That is one seriously gorgeous lemon tart. I want one now!
