This year, Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur has come up with a special steamboat for “Buka Puasa” and I think that’s such an excellent idea. After a day of fasting, it’s just so good to line the stomach with some hot nutritious soup and freshly boiled ingredients.
The “All Stars Steamboat Affair” in Essence restaurant features 6 unique broths for your dining delight. Diners will be totally spoilt for choice with these 6 broths, ranging from”Jonker Street Asam Pedas to Thai Tomyum, Penang Nyonya Curry and Napoli Beef Braising broth. If you prefer something simpler and subtle, go for the chicken or fish broths. Thanks to the Sheraton Imperial chefs, the 6 broth selections came from the creativity of Chef Kabir, Chef Jamsari, Chef Alessandro and Chef Loo.
My favourite is the Nyonya Curry broth – it’s supremely fragrant, rich and leaves a trail of warmth in the stomach.

The accompanying ingredients for the steamboat are just as varied and mind-boggling. The wide array of steamboat items offered include sliced sea bass, salmon, beef, crabs, prawns, all types of fish and meatballs, seasonal vegetables and more.

Besides the steamboat specials, a Ramadhan feast is not complete without traditional favourites like sambal, jeruk, kerabu, ulam-ulaman, nasi briyani and nasi kandar which are offered together with well-loved dishes at the Chinese corner, Italian corner, the Sushi bar and more.
