The main streets of Seri Petaling have fast evolved into a thriving food oasis. Every time we explore the area, I’m always amazed by the sheer number of food outlets in that area. New eateries are always popping up and diners heading that way are completely spoiled with lots of choices.
Along Jalan Radin Bagus, with eateries flanking both sides of the road, Sushi Tsen stands out as it serves very affordable Japanese fares within its cool interior. We loved the spaciousness of the restaurant and the clever design of the kaiten sushi belt which allows maximization of space for many other tables. Once seated comfortably, diners can pick their favourites from the kaiten or order a la carte from the menu.
The kaiten sushis are priced according to the colours of the plates. As a guide, these are their prices:
Pink Plates @ RM1.90
Orange Plates @ RM2.90
Red Plates @ RM3.90
Purple Plates @ RM4.90
We also checked out some a la carte items from their extensive menu. Service was efficient and we didn’t have to wait very long for our dishes.
Ikura Chawanmushi (RM8.30) – lovely smooth texture, the egg custard was served piping hot with a generous topping of ikura.
Asari Soup (RM11.60) – the clams in miso soup were fresh, sweet and bouncy to the bite!
We had to indulge in the must-have’s: sushi and sashimi. Sushi Tsen has a an extensive selection of these and diners can opt for various sizes of portions.
Mixed Sashimi Platter
Mixed Nigiri Sushi (RM19.50/9 pcs); RM33.50/12 pcs)

Gyuniku Karubi Sauce (RM18.80) – these sliced beef ribs bathed in a sweetish sauce were sadly overcooked and were a tad tough
Ebi Mentaiyaki (RM12.70) mentai grilled prawns, no complaints *thumbs-up!

Surume Ika Shioyaki (RM15) – good value for this huge squid and it’s grilled perfectly – tender, moist and tasty!
Like I’ve said, Sushi Tsen’s menu offers a wide variety of selection, with almost every Japanese cuisine category covered. Although we wanted to try all, our tummies were limited to these…
Handrolls California (RM4), Softshell Crabs (RM6.30)
Besides the a la carte items, Sushi Tsen also serves set meals at very affordable prices – starting from RM14.30 (Tempura Set) onwards. With prices like these, having a meal at Sushi Tsen certainly won’t burn a hole in your pocket. So the next time you crave for some simple, decent and very affordable Japanese food, Sushi Tsen is just the place to head to.
