If you are a seafood fan like me, then you just gotta make Chatz Brasserie in PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur your regular destination. Following their blockbuster Crabs Buffet some months ago, the pace continues with this Seafood Buffet Dinner. The spread features a tantalising variety of quality seafood as well as “Seafood Plates of Pleasure” with fresh mud crabs cooked in 6 flavours, steamed fish and sea cucumber.
The seafood buffet itself is priced at RM128nett per person inclusive of unlimited flow of juices and soft drinks. Diners opting for this buffet are then able to order the “Seafood Plates of Pleasure” (mud crabs, fish and sea cucumber) at the following special additional prices:
- Fresh mud crabs cooked in 6 styles: RM78nett for 1 crab/RM138nett for 2 crabs/RM268nett for 4 crabs
- Steamed garoupa/seabass: RM78nett per fish
- Braised Sea Cucumber Sichuan style: RM108nett (2-4 diners)/RM158nett (5-8 diners)
Sweet & Sour Meat Crabs
Wok-fried Meat Crabs with Salted Eggyolk
The live mud crabs are cooked in 6 signature flavours: Kam Heong Crabs, Butter Meat Crabs, Wok-fried Meat Crabs with Salted Eggyolk, Wok-fried Chilli Crabs, Wok-fried Crabs in Marmite Sauce and Sweet & Sour Meat Crabs.
As for the garoupa/seabass, diners can choose to have their fish steamed in superior shoyu sauce, in Sichuan Taupan Sauce or just plain Garlic Sauce. Personally, I prefer the simple shoyu sauce as the fish was very fresh and I don’t like strong sauces to overwhelm the natural sweetness of the fish.

Back to the buffet – there are fresh seafood aplenty on the counters. At the raw seafood corner, diners can pick their favourite seafood item and request the chefs to cook it in a variety of ways. My favourites were the grilled fish, slipper lobsters cooked in porridge and fresh oysters omelette.

Sang Har Noodles
Fresh sashimi, sushi, poached prawns, crabs, clams, mussels, smoked salmon are so popular that there is a constant line of people there. I picked up thick slices of smoked salmon and piled them on top of my own-made salad… best combination ever!
My kinda salad!
I can never resist stopping by the enormous wok where spicy aromatic fish head curry is bubbling away. The Indian-style curry, with its tangy fragrant broth is filled with chunks of fish head, ladies fingers, tomatoes and brinjals. I’d heap a bowl of this delicious curry to go with some roti paratha – my regular comfort food in Chatz Brasserie.

The variety of dishes at the buffet is pretty extensive to mention everything but knock yourself out with favourites like gratinated oysters, peppered mackerel, smoked oysters, stir-fried squids with ginger and dried chillies, Chinese spicy prawns, baked spicy crab puddings, balitong lemak batang keladi, seafood pizza or just good old fish and chips!
