Amidst the lush greenery and calm shimmering lake in the Putrajaya Botanical Gardens, the Spring Garden Restaurant sits by the edge of the vast lake, the twinkling lights atop its verandah beckoning a comforting welcome. Formerly known as the Putrajaya Seafood Restaurant, it is part of the Tai Thong Group of Restaurants. It’s located near the Morrocan Gates with ample parking.
During this Ramadan, Spring Garden Putrajaya is serving up a sumptuous dinner buffet at affordable prices. Start the meal with various ulam-ulaman and sambals, kerabus and salted eggs and fish which are bound to whet the appetite!
The long line of chaffing dishes hold a variety of favourites ranging from nasi biryani, acar sayur, rendang daging, ayam masak merah, asam ikan and sambal telur. To complement these, there are also some dim sum items like siew mai, fish balls, beancurd rolls and chicken pau.
Whiffs of insanely appetising aromas come from the “Goreng Gorengan” stall where the chef is busy frying ayam goreng berempah, paru-paru kunyit and udang goreng gandum. Chicken and beef satay disappear from the grill as quickly as they are done – we just cannot get enough of those tender chunks of meat on skewers!
For lighter bites, there are also keropok lekor, cempedak & pisang goreng, cucur badak, popiah goreng and samosa. My favourite is the keropok lekor – it’s so addictive!
As for desserts, there are endless trays of cakes, assorted nyonya kuih and various pots of bubur. Take your pick from the various bubur kacang, fresh fruits and ice cream. On weekends, look out for the durians on the buffet line (while stocks last), too.
