Light up your Mid-Autumn Festival with the mooncake boxes-turned-lanterns when you get your mooncakes from The Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
When you purchase 4 mooncakes from The Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur, they will be packed in a tall rectangular lacquer box. The hand-crafted lacquer boxes come in 5 colours and one in plain wooden colour. A bulb and cable are provided – you simply have to attach the bulb, connect the cable to a power point, turn it on and hey viola – you get a gorgeous oriental table lantern!
Now those ingenious boxes aren’t the only reason for you to get your mooncakes from The Concorde Kuala Lumpur. Their mooncakes are of top-notch quality and taste. The baked mooncakes all feature traditional tastes and flavours so don’t expect any modern fusionistic mooncakes here. They stick to the traditional staples of lotus paste, in 3 variations of pure lotus, white lotus or pandan lotus.
To combine with these, there’s a Black Sesame Paste or either single or double salted egg yolks. The Japanese Red Bean Paste and Assorted Nuts mooncakes complete the traditional line-up.
Prices of the baked mooncakes range from RM26.50 to RM31.50 nett each.
For the snowskin variety, there are only 2: White Pure Lotus (RM28) or Musang King Durian (RM42).
The Musang King (180g) is by far my top favourite durian mooncake this year. Made up of entirely freshly mashed musang king, the mooncake is unadulterated and it’s like gorging on pure durians.
The mooncakes are available till 8 September 2014 at the mooncake kiosk on the main lobby of the hotel or call 03-2144-8750 for enquiries & orders.
