Mei Keng Fatt Seafood Restaurant is one of the pioneer seafood restaurants in Tamkong Chinese New Village in Kuala Ampang. Opened since 1990, the restaurant has gone through many changes, improved and expanded to its present 3-storey building with own carpark. It’s very popular for weddings and private functions as the restaurant has numerous private rooms and full karaoke equipment.
Spacious seating, perfect for group gatherings too!
For this coming Chinese New Year, Mei Keng Fatt has lined up several special set menus highlighting their signature dishes.
From as low as RM555, diners get to feast on Abalone Seafood Hot Pot, Oreo Cheese Crabs, Hong Kong-style Assorted Wax Meats Rice and Crispy Fried Nian Gao. The portions are sufficient for 10 pax. I like this set as it’s not too heavy, has my favourite crabs and it’s certainly different from other regular festive dishes.
The hot pot is filled with all kinds of treasures like abalones, scallops, prawns, sea cucumber, dried oysters, crabs, a whole fish and various vegetables. The soup is robustly sweet with all the flavours from the seafood simmered in it.
The Oreo Cheese Crabs are rich and creamy and perfect for those who love some cheese in their seafood.
Mei Keng Fatt’s Assorted Wax Meats Rice is one of the best I’ve tasted this season. Besides the usual Chinese sausages, 2 types of waxed pork are also added giving it that wonderful sweetish aroma laced with a hint of fragrant Xiao Shing wine.
Crispy Fried Nian Gao in 2 Ways
The other set menus at RM698, RM998 and RM1,488 (for 10 pax) feature their signature seafood dishes cooked with festive influences in mind.
For takeaway, why not have the Fatt Choy Abalone Hot Pot and Yee Sang with Salmon for 10 pax at only RM488 (cash only) and you get to keep that pretty ceramic pot too. Place your orders and you can pick-up from 27 January – 28 February 2017.
