Hilton Petaling Jaya serves some of the best buffets in town. For many years now, the Paya Serai has been a favourite whenever “buffet” is mentioned, regardless whether it’s just their regular daily dinners or during special occasions. When the festive season swings by, you can be sure the chefs there will rev up their creative skills and culinary resources to come up with even more sumptuous meals!
For this festive season, you are assured of a merry gastronomic experience in Paya Serai’s Christmas Eve Buffet Dinner and Christmas Day Buffet Brunch. I’ve always loved the beautiful festive set-up and this time, there’s no disappointment either. Amidst the dazzling lights, baubles, trimmings and everything yuletide, the extensive array of festive goodies was quite mind-boggling.
At the roast meats station, I couldn’t quite make up my mind between the roasted tom turkey, garlic marinated roasted leg of lamb, roasted venison or that handsome rack of roast beef. Everything was so tempting, especially since there were also sides like beet chutney, cranberry-mustard relish, grilled peaches and Yorkshire pudding beckoning. Other special dishes were the perfectly smoked salmon and sea salt and brown sugar marinated salmon fillets.
Besides the special festive dishes, there are still the regular local and international cuisines lined up on the buffet stations. My favourites there are the beef and chicken satay and the tantalizing curries and chutneys at the Indian stall. Be nice to the chef there and he’ll gladly whip up some rotis and thosai on-the-spot for you, like what he did for me.

The seafood counter is also my must-have whenever I’m in Paya Serai. Oysters, prawns, mussels and scallops are all part of the scrumptious buffet.
Desserts play a central role in the buffet, looking at the huge variety there. Everyone’s sweet tooth would be royally appeased by the luscious Christmas Yule Log, assorted French pastries, fruit savarin with ginger, tiramisu with blueberries Chantilly, festive cup cakes, cinnamon almond chocolate cake, poached pears with gingerbread spice and choux puff towels.
Back at the central sweets counter, indulge on the trays of local kuihs, fresh fruits, chocolate fountain and various flavours of ice cream.
The Festive Buffet at the Paya Serai is served from 7pm till 10pm, priced at:
RM159 nett (Adult) & RM80 nett (Child) for Christmas Eve
RM145 nett (Adult) & RM75 nett (Child) for Christmas Day
On Christmas Day, there is also a Hi Tea Buffet from 12.30pm till 5pm priced at RM159 nett (Adult) and R80 nett for Child.
