Halal-certified "Jewels of Mid Autumn" @ DORSETT GRAND SUBANG

Without fail, every year I see restaurants and hotels try to out-do each other when it comes to Mooncakes for the Mid Autumn celebration. Some creations can be deliciously innovative while some are outlandish, to say the least. Then there are also the purist establishments which stick to tradition and produce only what’s been enjoyed repeatedly over the years. After all, what’s good for our parents and grandparents should still be good now after so many years.

The Dorsett Grand Subang is somewhat traditionalistic in its mooncake repertoire this year. Besides proudly proclaiming the “halal” certification of their mooncakes, the list offers 8 types of Baked Mooncakes and 3 types of Crystal Skin Mooncakes. The brand new paste created this year is their Honey Dragon Fruit and this is available with Single Yolk in both the baked and crystal skin renditions.

Members of the media were introduced to Dorsett Grand Subang’s “Jewels of Mid Autumn” in a recent fun workshop where we got to make a few crystal skin mooncakes with their signature Honey Dragon Fruit Paste.

Anything that’s made with fruits carries a healthy connotation. The dark pink Honey Dragon Fruit paste with traces of tiny black seeds embedded does give a good impression as this exotic fruit is high on antioxidants and vitamin C.

We were treated to a sumptuous lunch at The Emperor too, featuring some of their signature dim sum items, stir-fried vegetables in brilliant hues and silky noodles braised with fresh seafood.
