Grub by Ahong rose to popularity for its no-frills and wallet-friendly steak meals. Housed in an unassuming shoplot in Section 17, Petaling Jaya, queues are often seen before they insisted on online reservations for their customers. Seats then become very “hot” especially during weekends or holidays and you really have to book a few weeks ahead to score a table.

Their menu is kept minimal and focused. They only serve what they are good at. Popular cuts of beef like NY Strip, Wagyu and Wagyu Rump are the often-ordered items, besides a few selections of pastas and salads. The beef is beautifully grilled to medium-medium rare perfection, rendering them juicy and tender. We just needed to sprinkle some grains of sea salt over them for a very satisfying steak meal here.



We ordered pretty much the same dishes in the few times we were there. Why deviate when the test-and-tasted items work well?
