It is commendable that even during this challenging pandemic period, the very first DoubleTree by Hilton in Putrajaya was opened just more than a month ago. The launch of this resort during this time is a testament to the commitment of Hilton to establish its presence in new destinations across the country and our administrative capital of Putrajaya is an ideal choice.
Taking a short break recently, I visited this 290-room hotel spread over vast luscious grounds. This hotel is just 20 minutes’ drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and 40 minutes’ from Kuala Lumpur city centre via the new KL-Putrajaya Expressway.
Walking into the courtyard of the hotel, I was awe-struck by the unique architecture of the buildings. Right from the main door into the lobby, the interior is decked out in tastefully chosen ethnic-inspired decor. The cluster of buildings was originally meant to be a cultural museum, hence there are various unique ethnic elements in them. Right in the middle of the courtyard is the iconic clock tower and the wings surrounding it are laid out in all their glorious designs amongst lush greenery and beautiful matured trees. Furthermore, the resort also overlooks the calming waters of a lake and there are jogging pathways along the waterside.
This immense view can best be enjoyed from the hotel’s Lakeside Pool. In the pool or from the deck chairs, the sweeping panorama of the serene lake and the majestic buildings surrounding it can really take one’s breath away! Kids will adore the Splash Pool with water slides to keep them busy.
Indeed, relaxing in this hotel gives one a comforting feel of being away from the city! Walkways connecting the wings are shaded by lovely overhanging branches from matured trees and the grounds are covered by thriving shrubs and bountiful plants like daun kadok everywhere.
The well-appointed rooms, like our King Deluxe, are thoughtfully planned out for discerning guests. All rooms are non-smoking, with flat-screen TV with HD channels, 24-hour room service, complimentary wifi for Hilton Honors members and a comfortable work desk for business travellers. A fully equipped fitness centre is available for those who want to work up a sweat.
We had our main meals at Makan Kitchen, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant. Symbolic of DoubleTree by Hilton, Makan Kitchen serves authentic Malaysian fares and speciality dishes across Malay, Chinese, Indian, Iban and Peranakan cuisines. Our Tiffin Lunch served a variety of dishes from these cuisines.
KOFFEE is the deli lounge at the hotel’s lobby. Besides drinks and pastries, it serves a lovely Afternoon Tea featuring a delectable mix of western and local items. We found ourselves savouring delicacies like scones, sandwiches, cheesecakes, pavlova with local favourites such as pie tees, stuffed mantou and curry puffs.
Being in the vicinity of Malaysia’s federal administrative centre, DoubleTree Putrajaya is the ideal venue for corporate and intimate functions and events. Spanning a total of 3,773 square meters with the largest room setup at 926 square meters, the hotel has 22 meeting rooms that are all outfitted with an LCD projector, Wi-Fi and wired internet, video and teleconferencing facilities, digital sound system as well as a dedicated Event Manager to provide technical support. We like how the rooms are laid out in spacious premises.
Elements of Hilton CleanStay program will greet guests at DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside which enables guests to enjoy a clean and safe experience during their stay. The standards under Hilton CleanStay include a Hilton CleanStay Room Seal affixed on the door to our room. The seal shows that a room has not been accessed since being thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Additional cleaning of common areas and items, contactless check-in, innovative disinfection technology and flexible housekeeping options are all in place for a safe stay.
