Nothing can be fresher than eating that piece of meat, fish or vegetables that have just been dunked into hot soup and cooked to just the perfect done-ness. Besides, it’s also healthier as not much oil is involved unless you choose to dunk in fatty meats.

I always go for clear soup in my steamboat. That’s the best medium to cook fresh food and does not alter the natural flavours of the ingredients too much. At Ding Emperor, clear Chinese cabbage soup as well as hot spicy soup are available. Opened since last November, Ding Emperor, with its typical grande Chinese decor of domed archways and ornate furniture, has been dishing out its delicious house-made steamboat ingredients.

Although the prices at Ding Emperor may seem steeper than the regular steamboat joints, the premium quality and cosy ambience of the place are fair justifications. It’s been marked in my list as a very decent place for steamboat and I’ll certainly be returning!
