Dining at The Royal Selangor Yacht Club (RSYC) – it’s OPEN to the PUBLIC!
The Royal Selangor Yacht Club (RSYC) is no stranger to me. My in-laws were the first food operator of this grand dame, way back many years ago. At that time and until a few years ago, the RSYC was strictly for members only. It’s the oldest and largest yacht club in Malaysia, having been established in 1963. The club is graced by the royal patronage of HRH Sultan of Selangor. Some of you may be familiar with the prestigious Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta, which is organised by … [Read more...]

PUTIEN celebrates its 16th Anniversary with More Good Food!
Back in 2000, Putien’s founder Mr Fong Chi Chung started the restaurant as a coffee shop in Kitchener Road, Singapore. The rest, as they say, is history. YOUMIQI – SHUNDE CUISINE ROCKS!
In my last review of Youmiqi in May this year, I recommended their Kungfu Steamboat which was the highlight of my meal there. MOONCAKES & MID AUTUMN TREATS 2016 from TOH YUEN @ HILTON PETALING JAYA
When I was a kid growing up in a village in Ipoh, the 15th day of the 8th month in the Chinese lunar calendar was always an exciting day. That’s when everyone in the village celebrated the “Mooncakes Festival” and “pai yuet kong” (“praying to the moon” in Cantonese) was the finale of the night. But of course, the prayers thing was something done by the adults and we kids were just interested in the lantern activities for the day. Yes, those traditional lanterns in all shapes and sizes of … [Read more...]
