BUCKED OUT SEAFOOD FEAST at GOBO CHIT CHAT, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Come Friday and Saturday evening just before 6.30pm, there’s a huge crowd looming at the entrance of Gobo Chit Chat, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur. For what, you may ask. Well, they are just waiting for the clock to strike 6.30pm for the Bucked Out Seafood Market to welcome diners. Yes, this was the scene I saw when I was there several weeks ago – people who had made reservations were all waiting to get into Gobo Chit Chat!

From the entrance, I caught whiffs of fresh seafood wafting out and that’s hardly surprising because the counters and tables inside were practically groaning under the weight of fresh fish, crustaceans, shellfish and all kinds of seafood! I was told there are more than 130 types of food on the buffet spread. Among other things, I spotted pots and pans of Szechuan-style Spicy Mud Crabs, Grilled Squids in Orange Sauce, Tiger Prawns with Cream Corn, Slipper Lobsters in Cream Cheese and Kam Heong Bamboo Clams.

Apart from the ready-cooked dishes, the main attraction of this seafood feast is that you can fill up buckets of your favourite fresh seafood and then hand them over to the chefs to cook it in your selected sauce – hence the name “Bucked Out Seafood!” The serving crew will then bring your bucket of cooked seafood to your table! Take your pick from a variety of sauces available: curry cheese, Sichuan chilli, sambal, rendang and Thai coriander lime garlic.
