With a beach frontage facade, the Malati Restaurant & Bar stands on a beautiful section of the property. It has a very modern pavilion-like glass structure on the side and all around, their prettily latticed wooden sliding doors are usually kept open to let in the stunning sea view. From this vantage point, we were told that guests would have some of the best sunset views. Unfortunately, we did not get to see this as on the evening we dined here, it was pouring madly. Malati … [Read more...]

Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort, Thailand
Last month we had a short break in an idyllic tropical destination. It was the first time we headed to Krabi, located in the south of Thailand, facing the Andaman Sea. After a short flight (about 1 hour 40 minutes), we landed at Krabi Airport and had our first encounter with the warm smiley Thais. Yes, even at Immigration, their officers were so pleasant and welcoming. The drive from the airport to Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort took about 35 minutes, sweeping through narrow winding roads. … [Read more...]
Kim Ma Restaurant, Palace of the Golden Horses – Chef Roy Wong’s revamped menu
The last time I was in Kim Ma Restaurant, I remember vaguely a restaurant that was very traditionally Chinese in décor, with the obligatory lanterns hanging all over it. Yes, it has been that long. All that had changed now. Kim Ma has just gone through quite a massive refurbishment. I love the new look. Its understated elegance in muted shades of bronze and gold is amplified through the majestic-looking shiny beams criss-crossing the ceiling in some auspicious-looking patterns. The warm … [Read more...]

From China, its popularity has spread to the rest of Asia, so that’s why popiah nowadays is found not only in Malaysia but also in Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam and Myanmar. Of course there are various interpretations of this springroll in the various countries and are called by … [Read more...]

Las Vacas @ Mont Kiara is now serving Breakfast!
Las Vacas, well-known as a specialty butcher shop and also for their steaks, has started serving breakfast in their Mont Kiara outlet since 1 May 2014. We were there on the very first day when their breakfast service was launched. Sitting under their red awning (which casts a red glow on everything underneath!), we checked their breakfast menu and decided to go for one of their house signatures – the Wagyu Karubi & Eggs (RM28) and their Norwegian Benny (RM18). Wagyu karubi are … [Read more...]
