I’ve always loved Paya Serai at Hilton Petaling Jaya for its excellent authentic Malay dishes on any day. It is one of the most established and popular hotel restaurant in Petaling Jaya. Now with Ramadhan and a new Executive Chef helming the kitchen, diners will be totally spoiled for choice by its magnificent Buka Puasa buffet. Be prepared to savour Executive Chef Ridzuan Malek and team’s more than 300 delicious items during this holy month.
Chef Ridzuan, with more than 20 years’ experience in renowned hotels, will be whipping up buffet spreads that include a large variety of local specialities presented in kampung-style stalls and live cooking stations. Authenticity in his ethnic dishes is Chef Ridzuan’s forte and every effort is made to ensure the food stays true to their ethnic roots.
Popular dishes from Melaka, Perak, Penang, Kedah and Johor will be featured at the buffet. Rare local delights like Lawa Roasted Beef Salad, Fish Head Curry, Rendang Tok, Ikan Bakar Melaka, Whole Roasted Lamb Malay Style, Serawa Durian dengan Pulut and Kerabu Gamat are just some of the dishes on the long list.
Besides the traditional items, the buffet also offers some international flavours in the western, Indian, Chinese and Japanese counters. My favourite is the Monggolian BBQ counter where fresh meats and seafood are bbq’ed to your preference. The sirloin cuts are the best.
The desserts are plentiful, ranging from traditional cakes to western pastries. The chocolate fountain is a hit, naturally.
Durian lovers must leave some stomach capacity for a scrumptious durian session at Hilton Petaling Jaya’s outdoor durian orchard station. The King of Fruits will be opened on-the-spot for diners, so don’t miss this out.
