The last time I ate at 2OX was a year ago when this chic French bistro was newly opened – read about that here. Its trademark colorful wall mural greets customers as they step in and that cheerful image of happy dining never fails to bring a smile to all and sundry.
The plants have really flourished too!
Owner Sainy Chun has done some subtle changes to the immaculate stylish deco of 2OX. There are now elegant drapes softly separating the bar area and dining space giving a bit more privacy to customers who just want to chill-out at the bar. Low stylish chairs now line one side of the bar and some colorful rugs on the floor add on a touch of cosiness.
So we were there one recent weekend to check out Executive Chef Lescouezec Florent’s carefully curated 3-course Weekend Brunch. Available every Saturday and Sunday from 11am till 3pm at RM120++ per person, you’ll get some very tummy-filling French brunch favourites.
These pieces of freshly-baked baguette were just divine!
The brunch started with a platter of starters comprising Chopped Caesar Salad, Scrambled Eggs with Salmon & Fine Herbs and the most gorgeous piece of Toasted Focaccia with Melted Brie and Green Apples. There’s really lots to love on this platter!
The eggs were perfectly scrambled – soft, creamy with just the right silky texture and the salmon with fine herbs was a nice touch.
For the Mains, guests get to choose either roast lamb, beef or salmon. It’s served with coleslaw, mashed potatoes, green peas and a hearty Yorkshire Pudding.
Roast Beef
Roast Lamb
Grilled Salmon
Of the three, my vote went to the lamb and salmon. The roast beef was a tad tough and not as tender and juicy as the lamb. The salmon was perfect – nicely seared on the outside and when cut, revealed juicy pink centre that’s absolutely delicious. The chef executed this perfectly as salmon is such a delicate item to handle well.
Desserts came in 3 forms and guests get to choose one. I’d be in a dilemma as I won’t really know which one to select because all three were good!
Sticky Toffee Banana Cake with Butterscotch Sauce
Crème Brûlée French Toast with candied walnuts, whipped cream and roast apple
Baker’s Basket of chocolate pastry, mini croissant and scones
Any of these desserts would go wonderfully with coffee or tea which is included in the brunch.
If you wish to have some alcohol to go with the brunch, there’s Red Sangria, White Sangria, Kir Royale, Rossini and Bloody Mary available at just RM25 per glass.
2OX is definitely worthy for a place in my list of good brunch places in the city. The bistro is so cosy and chic; service is quick and friendly and the food is well thought-out, placing quality above all else.
