Bukit Rimau lies in the fringe of Kota Kemuning and it’s quite often lumped in together with the latter. The whole Kota Kemuning & Bukit Rimau dining scene has been getting quite vibrant with the mushrooming of many diversified eateries. It is of course good news to the residents as there is no lack of restaurant choices in the area.
One of the newest eateries to open its doors in Bukit Rimau is YOI. Located in a quiet road with plenty of parking, this cosy eatery packs a punch with its niche offerings. We love the simplistic wood-themed décor of YOI.

The menu is kept small and simple, focusing mainly on donburi and desserts but what’s important is that every dish is impeccably executed. Ingredients used are fresh and of good quality – it’s clear the chef & crew take pride in their creations, showing off their passion in the immaculate presentations.

Freshness of ingredients can be seen and tasted in every bite – from the glistening hamachi to the bouncy cubes of sweet raw seafood in their bowls of don.
The Don items are so prettily presented that it’s almost a crime to dig into them. But dug into them we did, and with such relish! Toppings are generous – in fact, we find there’s more toppings than the layer of Japanese rice underneath! Each Don item comes with a bowl of flavoursome miso soup with seaweed and Asari clams.
The deep-fried Butaage is an amazing show of perfectly fried pork shoulder, bursting with delectable porky flavours and so nicely tender to the bite. BBQ skewers are new to the menu but we are not sure if they are available every day. If you do see them, do order because they are really good. Meats and prawns are grilled to the perfect just-doneness, rendering them so tender and juicy.
Remember to save space for desserts. Although the selection is limited to just a few items, they are all done well. We will certainly go back for their Matcha Mochi Waffle and Kuri Houjicha Tart!
Service is attentive and friendly. I’m so glad that folks in Bkt Rimau/Kota Kemuning now have a decent place for some elegant scrumptious Japanese fares!

Chirashisushi Don RM45 with all kinds of fresh succulent sushi – my personal favourite!
