The Westin Kuala Lumpur is all aglow with an air of festivities, inspired by special festive delights from countries around the world. We had a taste of these festive line-up at The Living Room recently savouring delicious offerings in a feast featuring delicacies from more than 10 countries around the globe.
Taking centre stage at the buffet is the Roast Turkey and Beef Wellington – both executed very nicely … tender and juicy to the bite. We love the turkey – one of the best in town, so well roasted and tasty that we didn’t really need much sauce over it, although there’s a good selection of that as well.
Other main courses flamboyantly featured are European favourites like the Spanish Seafood Paella, French Duck Confit with Cherries, Jamaican Spiced Braised Oxtails, Italian Spinach & Cream Cheese Stuffed Portabello, Swedish Hasselback Potatoes with Orange Cheddar Sauce and many more.
If you are bread lovers, you’ll be bowled over by the selections of Italian Panettone, Stollen Sweet Bread, French Walnut Raisin Baguette, Salted Butter Candy Cane Bagels inspired by Germany and Gingerbread Loaves inspired by Vienna.
Besides the special festive features, popular staples in the buffet are the extensive spread of fresh seafood like oysters, mussels, crabs, prawns – our favourites here are the smoked salmon.
Japanese food lovers should not miss the live-cooking stations with chefs doing their thing at their Yakitori and Tempura counters.
The Westin Kuala Lumpur is known for its “Living Wellness” philosophy and towards this, the hotel has thoughtfully included balanced wellness in their buffet spread. Their “Vegetarians of the World” corner features Italian-inspired Creamy Polenta, Cauliflower Gratin inspired by France, Maple-glazed Tri-coloured Sweet Potatoes inspired by Canada, Braised Red Cabbage with Apples loved by Germans, Asparagus Polonaise inspired by Poland and Jamaican-style Vegetables Jambalaya.
What’s Christmas without all the signature festive sweets? It’s so hard to choose from the mind-boggling array of happy and colourful desserts in their Desserts Room! Yes, there’s a whole room of beautiful creative desserts to tempt and satisfy every sweet craving here! The hotel’s new Executive Pastry Chef, Syeriff Hafizal & his team have really gone all out to delight diners with all kinds of festive cookies, Yule log cakes, truffles, cupcakes, macarons, cake pops, puddings and so much more. Our favourite is Chef Syeriff’s signature Belgian Chocolate Yule Log – don’t miss this!
