Jing Cuisine officially opened in Kota Permai Golf & Country Club, Kota Kemuning last September. Serving pork-free Chinese specialities in its spacious interior, it’s open not only to club members but also to members of the public.

Looking through its menu, we could see a good variety of Chinese dishes of fresh seafood, poultry, lamb and live river fish cooked in various styles. Our River Patin steamed in superior broth was executed well, brimming with sweet, clear (“ching”) flavours coming naturally from the fish and broth. We happily drank spoonfuls of the tasty broth in between bites of the tender succulent fish. Fish is based on seasonal prices and diners can choose the cooking style, ranging from the regular minced ginger style, Teochew style but do check out the more unusual styles like “passionfruit steam”, “lotus style” or “braised with black garlic in claypot”.

Chicken – regular and kampung chickens are available cooked in customized orders. We had ours steamed simply with chopped ginger, garlic and chilli padi for that extra kick. Perfect timing rendered the texture smooth and tender.

Our Lamb Pot came piping hot, with aromas of spices wafting up from the claypot. Braised with morel mushrooms, beancurd sticks and water chestnuts, it tasted fine but needed more cooking time as the meat was still pretty tough.

If you are not keen to have rice, try the Indonesian Seafood Curry that can be served with meehoon and beansprouts separately. Bubbling in the curry were prawns, clams, fish fillets with long beans and tofu puffs. We felt the curry could have been thicker and spicier with a more satisfying kick.

With its spacious setup and idyllic landscaped greens all around the club, Jing Cuisine is a nice alternative to the usual Chinese restaurants in town. Service is attentive and parking is not a problem.
