As a leading purveyor of fine Cantonese cuisine in the city, Li Yen at The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur needs no introduction. Its cosy oriental-themed interior immediately draws you into its welcoming folds, framed by ornate latticed walls and warm smooth carved wooden furniture. And as we are now into the Lunar New Year season, lots of red are incorporated to pump up the mood – it’s truly Chinese in every sense.
We were there to preview Li Yen’s lunar new year’s festive meals recently. From the menus, I could see that much thought has been given into the curation. Where most restaurants would offer the same menus for both lunch and dinner, at Li Yen, there are separate lunch and dinner menus. Taking diners’ preference into consideration, the lunch menus feature a selection of dim sum items as starters. I guess this is also because Li Yen’s dim sum is very popular and generally people do love to munch on these at lunch. It also goes with the idea that the chefs do not want to overstuff diners with the heavier dishes featured in the dinner menus.
Looking at the exquisite dishes listed in the menus, I believe it would be quite difficult to settle on just one and I was so glad that the preview featured dishes picked from all the menus. Credit must be given to Executive Chef Leung Kwai Hong and his team for coming up with beautiful presentations that further elevate the whole dining experience at Li Yen.
Here’s to give you an idea of what’s going to be served in Li Yen to usher in the Year of the Dog…
