I can’t believe Christmas is just a month away. Where has the year gone?? And because I got to attend a special preview of Christmas and New Year goodies at the Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur recently, I got this oh-no-time-has-flown kinda nostalgia earlier than most of you. While I look forward to celebrating the festivities, there’s always a tinge of regret over the passing year. Year-end is always a bitter-sweet thing: excitement in the festivities, incoming new year and of course, the sadness of saying goodbye to yet another year.
Oh never mind, let’s put all that nostalgia aside and see what’s in store for the feasting in Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Yes, they’ve already got it all planned out.
I don’t know about you but for me, Christmas is always associated with all things bright, beautiful, colourful and sweet – and that means Desserts! The festive desserts that the pastry chefs of Traders Hotel KL have come up with are amazing. Let me show you some now… let’s start with the sweet stuff ya…
At Gobo Chit Chat, their new generation all-day dining restaurant, get ready to drool over the wide spread of international buffet and high tea with special festive items. The festive buffets are available for Christmas Eve Dinner, Christmas Day Brunch and there’s a not-to-be-missed New Year’s Eve Seafood Dinner as well. The Festive High Tea Buffet is available every Saturday and Sunday for the whole month of December 2015.
Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill is a well-designed cosy and stylish venue for a more private dining experience. The chefs have come up with tastefully crafted menus for the festive period. You can choose either the 3-course or 6-course menu which are served for the Christmas Eve Dinner. And because you will be welcoming 2016 soon, the New Year’s Eve Dinner has a selection of 3, 6 and 8 courses menus!
Among the special dishes offered, I tried these…
A beautifully plated appetizer of Blue Swimmer Crab Meat served with Ahi tuna, fish cracker, black caviar and compressed honeydew. I loved every fishy bite of this!
What is Christmas without turkey, right? So I also checked out their Turkey Breast served with mascarpone, fresh walnuts, brussels sprouts, saute’ed garden vegetables, giblet gravy, apple stuffing and orange cranberry sauce.
The Black Angus Fillet was to die-for. This 150 days beef was served with buttered Brussels sprouts, saute’ed garden vegetables and pomme puree.
Blueberries Almond Tart with its buttery crumbly pastry was made more decadent with rum & raisin ice cream, pot poached blueberries compote, raspberry volcano sauce and sprinkled with sea salt.
D’Indulge – chocolate indulgence, gold flakes, meringue ring, crumble cookies soil, pistachio-coated cherries and mini vanilla cone ice-cream with raspberry sauce.
The SkyBar is one of the most-sought venues to catch the annual fireworks show against the stunning Petronas Twin Towers, so if you are thinking of a New Year’s Eve celebration, do book your spot quickly. I heard the SkyBar’s Aurora New Year Eve Party is filling up very fast, so make that call now!
