It all started in 1759 when Arthur’s Day is celebrated around the world to honour the date Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000 year lease on the St James Gate Brewery, and whose legacy has brought us the globally celebrated iconic black brew, GUINNESS®. Raising a toast to Arthur is a central part of the annual festivities and is fast becoming a tradition among GUINNESS® fans around the world.
September is the month where people all over the world raise their glasses to salute the one man who created a legendary brew that many have come to love. This year 40 countries globally will be holding their own Arthur’s Day celebrations and Malaysia has once again been chosen as one of the hosts.
The party kicked off at SOULed OUT Ampang on 8 September 2012 with the outlet being packed to the brim with Guinness lovers. It’s my first time at SOULed Out Ampang and I could see many similarities in its set-up with the Sri Hartamas establishment. It’s a good thing we were there early as people just kept pouring in for the party! The atmosphere was further jived up with Cuban tunes from the performing band which featured Marco Alonso and Greisy Martin.
Besides having great offers on Guinness, the good people of SOULed OUT have come up with 4 dishes that feature Guinness stout in the recipes. We checked out the Meatballs in Guinness Sauce, Guinness Chicken Yakitori, Guinness Battered Fish & Chips and Guinness Lamb Burger which all had a dash of the dark brew infused in them. My favourite was the Yakitori with its slightly charred smokey flavour with a tinge of sweetness in the marinade. DL dug into the thick plush lamb patty of the burger and it spewed delicious juices that had a hint of the Irish brew.

SOULed OUT’s signature Mojito – one of the best I’ve tasted!
Oh, you must try their latest dessert – the Home-made Tiramisu. It’s very rustic looking with spongy biscotti fingers soaked in Bristot espresso and covered with mascarpone ice cream – simply divine!

Come Friday 28 September 2012, SOULed OUT Sri Hartamas plans to play host to more than 1,500 lovers of the black and tan brew. You will also get to enjoy great Guinness deals and the specially crafted Guinness infused food. On the entertainment front, look out for emcee Serena C who will be on hand to fire up the night and 2 very talented Malaysian entertainers, Reshmonu and Jaclyn Victor who will ensure a memorable night for all. The highlight of this whirlwind party will take place high in the skies, so look up and be dazzled by the mind blowing Musical Fireworks Finale! I can’t wait to see this!
