The Oriental Group of Restaurants need no introduction, having been at the forefront of Chinese dining in the Klang Valley for many years. To welcome the Year of the Water Rabbit, there’s a huge spread of Chinese New Year delicacies to entice diners. We got to savour some of their well-known dishes recently.
Of course a Yee Sang is necessary to kick-off any CNY feast and they have both the traditional and modern versions. Depending on your preference, you can choose different proteins to top your Yee Sang, like silverfish, crispy fish skin, salmon, soft shell crabs, anchovies, prawns and even grilled Iberico pork neck!
Poon Choi is always popular as it is a one-pot wonder full of delicious premium ingredients. The Shunde-style Poon Choi here has 17 wondrous items including whole abalones, sea cucumber, goose webs, fish maw, dried scallops, smoked farm chicken (half bird), roast duck, dried oysters, cuttlefish, roast pork, mushrooms, yam, Chinese cabbage, gluten, bailing mushrooms and topped with fried king prawns!
Each of the Oriental Groups’ restaurant features its own Chinese New Year Gourmet Celebration Sets curated exclusively for minimum of 2 pax up till groups of 4/6/10. Each restaurant also has its own signature dishes which can be ordered a la carte, such as Pig Stomach with Chicken Shunde-style, Braised Pork Trotters with Salted Eggyolk Meat Balls, Roast London Duck with Wild Mushrooms & Black Turffle, charcoal-flame Lap Mei Fan using HK waxed meat and sausages and all kinds of steamed fish, braised seafood and much more.
