There’s no denying that Kelantan Delights serves some of the best Kelantanese dishes around here in the Klang Valley. Needless to say, their Ramadhan buffet is one which I look forward to, having first tasted it in 2011. Their Ramadhan spread showcases all their signature dishes and it’s a great opportunity to savour all the scrumptious Kelantanese delights under one roof in one seating – if you have the capability to do so! Nasi Dagang Laksam This year, with a new culinary … [Read more...]
Seenak Sajian Tradisi Desa for Ramadhan @ Kitchen Art Brasserie, Empire Hotel Subang
The thing I enjoy most about Ramadhan buffets is that I get to enjoy authentic traditional Malay dishes. Most establishments offering Berbuka Puasa feasts usually go out of their way to ensure that well-loved local Malay cuisine is featured. That’s exactly what Kitchen Art Brasserie at the Empire Hotel Subang is doing for this Ramadhan. Diners get to feast on an array of wholesome dishes – the selection numbers more than 50 delicious items. It may not sound like a lot, as compared to … [Read more...]
Cuisine Explored! I cooked in the kitchen of Prime @ Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur
Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur recently announced on their Facebook Page about this initiative. When Janice Foo encouraged me to participate in Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur’s inaugural culinary challenge for their Facebook fans, she told me that “you just need to cook ONE dish, any dish you like… your favourite dish or your grandmother’s signature dish… just any one dish!”. The thing is, I have never entered any cooking competition of any kind and I was quite hesitant to take this up. What really … [Read more...]
Time to go NOSHing! Specials for July & August 2013
There’s no denying the passion that goes into the food at NOSH. While I have not had the pleasure of meeting Judith yet, when chatting with Ann Lee, her unabashed enthusiasm and obvious love for food sparkle through in her every gesture. When she makes a statement like “Really, what do we Malaysians love most? Eating great food, of course!” – you would immediately gather that here is one dedicated gourmand in every sense of the word. For not only does she love great food, she makes great food … [Read more...]
Berbuka Puasa with Nenek’s 138 Mouth-watering Malay Specialities at JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur
I was told that the JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur always serves its long-standing Nenek’s Malay specialities during Ramadhan. I had my first taste of this sumptuous spread recently as I had never tried their Ramadhan buffet before. The lift took me to the 6th Floor Starhill Conference Centre and as I stepped out of it, lovely tantalizing aromas were already wafting to my nostrils from the pool side. I followed the aroma trail and there, at the Poolside, stalls have been set up, holding pots … [Read more...]

Up close & personal with Gordon Ramsay at the Hawker Heroes Challenge in Singapore!
I was actually straining my ears out, hoping to catch an expletive or two from Gordon Ramsay when I attended the SingTel Hawker Heroes Challenge in Singapore last weekend. But, heck – no such luck. Michelin-starred celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is actually pretty charming in real life, when addressing the public. Maybe that’s what his PR agency tells him he should do. He was even smiling most of the time he appeared and spoke to his fans in his clipped English … [Read more...]
Melbourne Style on Show in Kuala Lumpur
Did you know that Malaysia is Victoria’s 5th largest tourism market and generated 94,000 visitors in the year ending March 2013? Yes, and I contributed to that figure too, having just returned from Melbourne less than 2 months ago. Melbourne is also the world’s No.1 Most Liveable City in 2013 as ranked by The Economist Intelligence Unit. Recently, the Victorian Government organised a Super Trade Mission to South East Asia and in a tourism event in Kuala Lumpur, it was hosted by the … [Read more...]
Kampachi opens in Plaza 33, Petaling Jaya
We were intrigued by this huge brown ball hanging at the entrance of Kampachi in Plaza 33, Petaling Jaya. It stands on ceremony under its own “roof” and from far, it looked like some kind of hive. This is what they call a “sugidama” or sake ball made out of cedar twigs, a traditional sign hung over doors of sake breweries to signal the new arrival of sake to customers. When hung outside restaurants, it’s a sure sign that high quality sake is served in the premise. And that is why there’s … [Read more...]
