This dessert shop is making waves in the Damansara Uptown area. And I can totally understand why. I have also become a fan of this place! This is where people go, after meals, if they want some good desserts. The menu is simple – just a combination of hot and cold desserts, served with sprinkling of Taiwanese, Korean, Chinese and also local styles and flavours. Think shaved ice, boba, jelly, popping pearls, sweet potato and taro balls … sound familiar?
This casual sweet eatery is run by Pei and his team of young entrepreneurs. When we were there, the place was really bustling and very soon, there was a queue outside the shop. The enterprising young folks quickly brought out stools for the waiting guests – really thoughtful and customer-friendly!
First thing to try here is their Kakigori – shaved ice desserts. They have a damn good ice-shaving machine … the shaved ice is bingsu-grade … soft, light and fluffy! The signature item is the Iron Lady Milk Tea Kakigori where premium quality tieguanyin tea is used. The tea flavour is fragrant and discernible, nicely absorbed in the soft fluffy shaved ice. It’s served with a bowl of handcrafted sweet potato and taro balls and boba pearls soaked in a light brown sugar syrup. Other flavours to check out in the kakigori range are Royal Matcha Latte, Dark Milo, Horlicks, White Coffee and Durian & Coconut – flavours that Malaysians love!

I love grass jelly and the Classic Grass Jelly here is excellent. The bowl, with shaved ice at the bottom is piled high with wobbly jelly and crowned with red beans and crunchy roasted almond flakes. Like the kakigori items, it’s also served with a bowl of sweet potato and taro balls and boba pearls soaked in a light brown sugar syrup. Fresh milk is served separately which you then pour all over the jelly before digging in!

We adore the Classic Calamansi Yokan too. It’s so refreshing! The calamansi juice has been added to the ice and that’s how the taste has been intensified. Beneath the thick slices of calamansi yokan, there’s honey sea coconut, white pearls and passionfruit popping pearls – so much to love!

I’m a fan of hot ginger soup and the Bentong Ginger Soup with Black Sesame Rice Balls is right up my alley. 3 levels of “hotness” are offered: Light, Normal or Spicy. Of course my choice is “spicy”!
