It’s that time of the year again. Yes, the holy month of Ramadhan is upon us.
This time round, Latest Recipe at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur will feature traditional dishes from various states in Malaysia. The repertoire of authentic Malay dishes is presented by Executive Sous Chef Budiman Bistari and his team.
Born and bred in Kedah, Chef Budiman is excited to have guests taste his specialities like Laksa Utara, Rendang Tok and Gulai Ikan. Inspired and influenced by his mother, Chef Budiman’s dishes have a lot of heart and passion. A must-try item is his special “Mee Udang a la Chef Budiman”, a recipe from his mother which is a closely-guarded secret. Chef Budiman’s mother cooks this every Ramadhan in her kampung.
At the Malay Kerabu Station, there’s a variety of authentic Malay salads like Chicken Salad with Cashews, young papaya and carambola chilli paste, fish and prawn terrine with grated coconut paste with fenugreek sauce and sliced roast beef with tamarind chilli dip and many more.
Then there are the savouries, sambals and pickles to tantalise every palate. You can’t miss celebrated dishes like Quail Rendang, Fish in Cashew Nuts and black pepper sauce, Lamb Chops and freshwater prawns tandoori served with freshly-baked naans.
A special Dish of The Day is featured daily on a rotating menu. Some of the dishes for this important stance are: Roasted Baby Lamb with 10 Spices, Baked Seabass with curry sauce and bird’s eye chillies, Oven roasted spring chicken and many more.
The Japanese counter is always popular with its fresh sashimi, teppanyaki and variety of soba and udon cooked upon order.
Likewise, the Indian counter hold a sumptuous array of delicacies. The copper coloured pots holding all sorts of delicious curries and chutneys always have me stumped – I find it difficult to decide in the face of so many items.
Other counters not to be missed are the Western and Chinese counters. And the Desserts too of course. Besides the chocolate fountain, their durian pengat and waffles are to die for. A speciality for Ramadhan, the durian pengat is served with roti jala – remember to leave tummy space for this.
The buffet spread is inclusive of free-flow date juice, sirap bandung, sugar cane juice, teh tarik as well as live ABC and Cendol Mamak station.
This scrumptious Ramadhan Buffet Dinner is available at Latest Recipe from 22 June till 16 July, priced at RM173 nett per person (Monday-Friday). On Saturday and Sunday, the price is RM161 nett per person. Children between 4-12 years & senior citizens are entitled to a 50% off.
