Bukit Rimau lies in the fringe of Kota Kemuning and it’s quite often lumped in together with the latter. The whole Kota Kemuning & Bukit Rimau dining scene has been getting quite vibrant with the mushrooming of many diversified eateries. It is of course good news to the residents as there is no lack of restaurant choices in the area. One of the newest eateries to open its doors in Bukit Rimau is YOI. Located in a quiet road with plenty of parking, this cosy eatery packs … [Read more...]

ISHIN Japanese Dining – savour their signature dishes!
Ishin Japanese Dining is located in a bungalow lot along the ever-busy Old Klang Road and it’s one Japanese restaurant that has stood the test of time. Established more than 6 years ago, Ishin remains a popular place to head to for some decent Japanese fares at mid-range prices. Read about my first review of Ishin here. On a recent re-visit, we were happy to note that Ishin was still consistent in its quality of food. We had a couple of appetisers - Chuka Kurage (chilled pickled jellyfish) … [Read more...]

FU-RIN Japanese Restaurant – WAGYU BEEF PROMOTION
Wagyu directly translates into “Japanese cow” and it’s Japan that started this premium cattle breeding. It’s considered the caviar of beef in Japan and the striking characteristic of wagyu is its pervasive marbling, known as “shimofuri”. Besides Japan, wagyu cattle is widely bred, and in many cases, cross-bred in the USA, Canada and Australia. Pure-bred wagyu beef from Japan is very expensive and not widely exported from Japan so most wagyu beef that’s consumed outside of Japan most likely comes … [Read more...]
BONBORI Japanese Cuisine @ Setia Walk, Puchong
From the landscaped lake in the centre of Setia Walk Puchong, look up and you are bound to spot Bonbori’s colourful signage up on the 1st floor. They are incredibly busy, especially during weekends, as I found out recently. On an early Sunday evening, customers were queuing up at the front door, mostly families. The restaurant’s decor is simple and tables are placed rather close to each to maximize occupancy. Flipping through their menu, I could understand their popularity as their prices … [Read more...]
Taiko Japanese Cuisine, Mont Kiara Shoplex
It used to be Ramen Taiko Japanese Cuisine and they were mainly specializing in ramen only. A new management took over the restaurant in April this year and expanded the food repertoire to include other Japanese dishes. A new chef, Chef Steven Khoo took over and has since revamped the menu. The cosy restaurant has a warm homey feel to it, thanks to the wood-based furniture and interesting Japanese knick-knacks decorating the place. The menu at Taiko is pretty comprehensive, covering … [Read more...]
Manmaru Udon and MORE!
The name Manmaru Udon may have led many to believe that the place is an udon house. I was one of those who actually had that notion. Until recently, that is. Besides their signature udons, Manmaru’s menu lists an extensive range of Japanese favourites. In fact, the choices are quite mind-boggling. I’m a great fan of Japanese food but the funny thing is, I’m not really into their udon and ramen. That’s the reason why I seldom go to ramen or udon houses. In a Japanese restaurant, you … [Read more...]

I’m not kidding when I say decent sushi can be found for just RM2 or RM3 per plate. And it’s right smack in the middle of Subang Jaya too! I’m talking about this place where you can “Eat like a Boss!” - it’s Sushi Flash. I couldn’t believe it either when I first heard about this. The people at Sushi Flash believe in providing good quality Japanese food at high efficiency with minimal waiting time. The sushis are prepared fresh and placed on the conveyor belt and customers just take … [Read more...]
