When you enter the Seni Mont Kiara Condominiums , look up and you will see the sweet pink sign for Hubba Hubba Gastrobar perched on the 1st Floor. This is the 3rd outlet of Hubba Hubba and if I were a resident of this condominium (but I can’t afford it, really), I’d be mighty happy with this eatery right at the doorstep. I mean I practically fell in love with the gorgeous rustic yet elegantly comfortable ambience of the place. The welcoming factor took a notch higher with the big … [Read more...]

I-PO: Best Roast Ducks in Klang?
I have heard much about this place and how people have raved about the roast ducks here. At a recent brunch at Restoran I-Po in Bayu Perdana, Klang, I found their roast ducks really did fly off the hooks at an incredibly fast rate. The golden glistening skin of the ducks crackled even as the staff was chopping up the roasted fowls at the front of the restaurant. And oh my, the chopping never really stopped! Typical kopitiam-style, the restaurant has an air-conditioned section … [Read more...]

THE ANDAMAN, LANGKAWI – A REVISIT
The Andaman, a Luxury Collection resort in Langkawi is not someplace you’d forget easily. Although it has been 3 years since I last visited it in 2013, the majestic main lobby of The Andaman was just as breathtaking when I revisited it recently. Fashioned like a “balai rong seri” – an imperial waiting hall common in ancient Malay “istanas” (palaces), the magnificent and beautifully-carved wooden structure at the centre of the lobby remained as impressive as ever. The Main … [Read more...]
FU-RIN Japanese Restaurant – WAGYU BEEF PROMOTION
Wagyu directly translates into “Japanese cow” and it’s Japan that started this premium cattle breeding. It’s considered the caviar of beef in Japan and the striking characteristic of wagyu is its pervasive marbling, known as “shimofuri”. Besides Japan, wagyu cattle is widely bred, and in many cases, cross-bred in the USA, Canada and Australia. Pure-bred wagyu beef from Japan is very expensive and not widely exported from Japan so most wagyu beef that’s consumed outside of Japan most likely comes … [Read more...]

MOONCAKES & MID AUTUMN TREATS 2016 from TOH YUEN @ HILTON PETALING JAYA
When I was a kid growing up in a village in Ipoh, the 15th day of the 8th month in the Chinese lunar calendar was always an exciting day. That’s when everyone in the village celebrated the “Mooncakes Festival” and “pai yuet kong” (“praying to the moon” in Cantonese) was the finale of the night. But of course, the prayers thing was something done by the adults and we kids were just interested in the lantern activities for the day. Yes, those traditional lanterns in all shapes and sizes of … [Read more...]
GO HAINANESE @ THE GRAVY FACTORY, NU SENTRAL
If you are as old as me, you’d probably recall that well-known and popular western food chain restaurant called “Mamachops & Papagrill” which used to draw large crowds due to their delicious offerings and very affordable prices. Fast-forward many years - due to a management change, some of the people who ran those outlets have rebranded the business and have now set up The Gravy Factory which is located in NU Sentral. The casual eatery spots rustic open-brick walls, simple metal … [Read more...]
