The Anantara Hua Hin Resort & Spa is the very first resort developed under the Anantara brand. We had a short stay in this resort recently and were charmed by the rich traditional design from its historic heritage surrounded by natural beauty all around. The name Anantara in Sanskrit means “without end” – an indication of the freedom of movement flowing in harmony throughout the resort, from design to nature. The resort's mascot! Built in 2001, this resort gave birth to … [Read more...]
AVANI+ HUA HIN RESORT, Thailand
When Air Asia started direct flights to Hua Hin in mid 2018, I knew I had to make a trip there. I enjoy Thailand and Hua Hin was definitely in my radar. However, my travel schedules were crazy last year and before I knew it, the year was out. Once 2019 dawned, I made my Hua Hin plans and finally got to this stylish coastal town last month. It’s a short flight from KLIA2, just under 2 hours and after a quick shut-eye onboard, it was time to land. Clearing Immigration at Hua Hin Airport was … [Read more...]

The very first thing that struck me when I set foot on the Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa was: What a big big resort this is! “Big” does not even start to describe this huge property sprawled in 75 acres of idyllic greenery facing the Andaman Sea. The gorgeous Karon Beach just across the resort The resort faces Karon Beach and a 45- minute drive from the airport. The grand main entrance of the resort The super spacious Main Lobby/Reception Surrounded by … [Read more...]
FAVOLA @ Le Meridien Chiang Mai, Thailand
Sitting at the main lobby of the Le Meridien Chiang Mai, I couldn’t help but be struck by the timeless chic design of the hotel, enhanced by various pieces of striking contemporary art pieces on the walls. It shouldn’t surprise me, really as the Le Meridien hotels all over the world subscribe to their universal theme of being a leading contemporary lifestyle brand. As I make my way up to Favola, their Italian restaurant, I can smell the delicious aromas of breads or pizzas (I’m not sure … [Read more...]
Dining in 137 PILLARS HOUSE, CHIANG MAI, THAILAND
During my stay at the amazing 137 Pillars House in Chiang Mai, I had the privilege of sampling some of the remarkable culinary offerings in its restaurants. As detailed in my earlier review, 137 Pillars House is a cosy boutique resort, converted from a grand mansion originally built in the 1880’s. Due to its unique structure, the dining spaces in the resort spell warmth, intimacy and cosiness in almost every corner. The restaurants and bars are located in the main building and they flow into … [Read more...]
137 PILLARS HOUSE, CHIANG MAI, THAILAND
A stay in 137 Pillars House, Chiang Mai is never just a stay. It is an experience, and not just any experience. It is a memorable experience, a pampered episode, its charm and comfort lingering in memory long after departing from this beautiful award-winning resort. The Reception Beyond the white walls, stepping into 137 Pillars House is like entering a homestead in the 1880’s era. Its 30 luxurious suites are within the colonial-style teak traditional Lanna homes spread over the … [Read more...]
Dining at Crave & chilling out at W XYZ Bar, Aloft Bangkok
In our recent trip to Bangkok, we chose to stay at the Sukhumvit area and Aloft Bangkok was a natural choice. The hotel is located in Soi 11, quite possibly one of the hippest spots in town. All around the hotel are bars, cafes, restaurants, shopping outlets and the Nana BTS Skytrain and MRT station are all in the vicinity. Just like the other Alofts, Aloft Bangkok shines with the same urban hip with modern savvy design as its theme. The hotel, with all its outlets, breathe “energy” and “fun” … [Read more...]
Malati Restaurant & Bar at Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort, Thailand
With a beach frontage facade, the Malati Restaurant & Bar stands on a beautiful section of the property. It has a very modern pavilion-like glass structure on the side and all around, their prettily latticed wooden sliding doors are usually kept open to let in the stunning sea view. From this vantage point, we were told that guests would have some of the best sunset views. Unfortunately, we did not get to see this as on the evening we dined here, it was pouring madly. Malati … [Read more...]
Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort, Thailand
Last month we had a short break in an idyllic tropical destination. It was the first time we headed to Krabi, located in the south of Thailand, facing the Andaman Sea. After a short flight (about 1 hour 40 minutes), we landed at Krabi Airport and had our first encounter with the warm smiley Thais. Yes, even at Immigration, their officers were so pleasant and welcoming. The drive from the airport to Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort took about 35 minutes, sweeping through narrow winding roads. … [Read more...]
