It’s a well-known fact and we always have this issue whenever we dine at Ruyi: Executive Chef James Ho and team create dishes which are not only so good to eat, they are incredibly pretty to look at as well. In fact, some are just so pretty that we don’t have the heart to dig in! I mean, it’s like so sayang to eat up all that prettiness! With the lunar new year festivities coming up very soon, we checked out some of the special dishes at Ruyi recently. First on the table was of course the Yee … [Read more...]
DANCING FISH, Bangsar Shopping Centre
The last time I dined at Dancing Fish was when they first opened, some 5 years ago. As one of the few restaurants around town serving good Indonesian fares, they have been doing well. And in fact, the restaurant just bagged the “Rising Star” Platinum Business Award 2016 bestowed by the SME Association of Malaysia. That’s a testament of the restaurant’s unique local expertise on the verge of making their global presence in the near future. Certainly, Dancing Fish has been … [Read more...]

This was back in the 1920’s in the US where this started. The trend was revived in the late 2000’s and the term “speakeasy” has now expanded to include retro … [Read more...]
IPPUDO Bar at Bangsar Shopping Centre – indulge in Japanese whiskeys, sake & beers
Here in the Klang Valley, Ippudo has always been associated with ramen and accompanying Japanese dishes (read my earlier review here). Now there’s another experience to associate with that name, with the opening of IPPUDO Bar not too long ago at the Bangsar Shopping Centre. Located right next to Ippudo Ramen, IPPUDO Bar’s outdoor area section is a dedicated bar with high tables, wine chiller and bar shelves to display authentic Japanese alcohol. It is a natural progression, if … [Read more...]
Ippudo @ Bangsar Shopping Centre: it’s not all about ramen
Mention the name “Ippudo” to any Japanese food lover and immediately the response is likely to be “oh, famous for ramen!” Well, that’s true, of course, as the founder of Ippudo, the charismatic Shigemi Kawahara is known as the “Ramen King” in Japan. When Kawahara-san started Ippudo way back in 1985, he created ramen which personified his philosophy and vision. His innovative “Tao” or way with ramen took on many revolutions and improvements. From a 300 year-old invention, Kawahara-san’s … [Read more...]
