If you reside in the Klang Valley, you'd probably have eaten at Canton-i or its sister restaurant, Dragon-i. The latter is famous for their Xiao Loong Pau - one of the best you can get around here.Canton-i in 1-Utama is a favourite lunch spot for me as my office is just about 128 steps from the place. Both Canton-i and Dragon-i are having a "RM1 Chicken" dish promotion, in appreciation of their customers, or so they say lah. It sounds good, right? They've put up some posters & stuff … [Read more...]
Subak – a culinary sanctuary!
Subak is a gem of a restaurant, nestled in the lush greenery of Bukit Lanjan. From their website, I learned that "subak" actually meant the highly intricate and ritualised water irrigation system practised in Bali's rice fields. It is an inspirational tradition of sharing life-giving water that sustain rice terraces in Bali. From the main entrance, we walked up a slope... ...to a sanctuary of tropical flora, where an immaculate lawn provides a green carpet for the beautiful trees and … [Read more...]
Pao Xiang Bak Kut Teh in 1Utama
Much had been written and blogged about this Bak Kut Teh joint. Originated from Klang (but of course - Klang is the mecca of BKT after all!) with its mothershop in Taman Berkeley, it has since sprouted several offspring outlets and they are all housed in upmarket malls like Pavillion and now 1 Utama. As 1Utama is just a hop & a skip away from my office and for the longest time there has not been any decent BKT outlet in this mall, I jumped in joy when I heard that there's now a reputable … [Read more...]
Uncle Chilli’s – New Dinner Menu!
Uncle Chilli's in PJ Hilton has been around since the 90's - famed for its fun atmosphere and live bands. Truly it was the place to "be seen" back then. I haven't been to Uncle Chilli's for some time and a couple of weeks back when I was there, the place has been totally revamped. It now looks more contemporary spotting some sleek shiny decor - quite different from the Uncle Chilli's of before! I must say I do like the new retro set-up :-)It's tagline "The Place Where U Belong" entices one … [Read more...]
LAZY me
I am back!Yeah, I know I have not blogged for more than a month - anybody missed me?! Blame that on my travels, medical issues but ultimately I guess I have just been lazy for a while. It's funny... sometimes when you stop doing something (which you usually love), it takes a while for the "mood" and "inspiration" to resume.I have loads of photos to plough through, download and edit... and I have been lazy. Yes - lazy me! I will definitely get down to that soon, so please don't write me off … [Read more...]
Rakuzen Subang
Rakuzen Japanese Restaurant 15 Jalan SS15/5A 47500 Subang JayaMention "Rakuzen" only and many people would associate "decent Japanese food" with it. Their outlet in Subang has been in existence for quite a while and we have been there many times but I have yet to blog about it.Rakuzen is extremely popular - and unless you go there very early, you will have to wait for quite a bit if you didn't make any booking! It is wise to book your table early, to avoid disappointment. On the few occasions … [Read more...]
Best Lorbak in Penang!
*Pureglutton comes in and sweeps away the cobwebs and dust covering every corner of this blog*OK, now that I have done some housecleaning here (I know, I've been MIA for some time, lol!), I better put up the pics of the best Lorbak we had in Penang, before the pics expire or get lost in my archives, haha!Right... this was on the last day of our Penang makan trip. Shanghai, O’ Shanghai!
Shanghai @ JW MarriottJalan Bukit BintangKuala LumpurWhen everyone, or rather, almost everyone has balik'ed kampung for the Hari Raya break, that's the best time to drive in the city. Unable to resist taking our own sweet time driving along the traffic-free roads right in the city centre, that's how we decided to spend a leisurely breakfast in Shanghai.Shanghai - that's the name of the Chinese restaurant in JW Marriott in Bukit Bintang. A very pleasant classy place - the rich wood panellings … [Read more...]
Assam Laksa & Coconut Jelly in Penang
Continuing with my makan spree in Penang...After the 2 breakfasts that we had, we went to Queensbay Mall (because it was also raining and we had to abandon any outdoor jaunts) ... not that we had anything to shop for, but it was more like we had to exercise a bit to work off that heavy double-breakfast! After a couple hours of aimless window-shopping there, we decided we had enough and headed on to my must-have Assam Laksa!Yes, this is the place...The Air Itam Market Assam Laksa is a must for … [Read more...]
2 Breakfasts in 1 Morning – Penang
Continuing our food jaunt in Penang... the next morning found ourselves back in Gurney Drive again. Of course the day scenes there are very much different from the glitzy lights the night before. It was a wet morning - the early morning drizzle had somewhat "cleaned" the hazy air and it was really refreshing taking a walk along that popular road as we headed to our targeted breakfast venue No.1.After reading CK Lam's post on the delish morning fare found in Song River Cafe, we wasted no time … [Read more...]
