Opened in May this year, Cerdito Restaurant is a full-service restaurant right smack in the middle of Puchong Jaya. In an area that’s brimming with casual cafes, kopitiams and noisy Chinese “tai-chow” kinda restaurants, Cerdito stands out with its prominent facade in a corner lot. Stepping into the restaurant, I was pleasantly taken aback with its sleek modern interior design with its elegant and welcoming at the same time. The clean classic lines of its contemporary design … [Read more...]

IPPUDO @ THE GARDENS MALL: New Menu!
I’ve always loved eating edamame in its simplest form: blanched. Blanched lightly in salt water, the green peas are sweet and crunchy and that’s how it’s usually served in most Japanese restaurants as a starter. Of late, the trend has been shifting. More and more restaurants have decided to give the plain edamame a flavoured makeover. I’ve seen some restaurants stir-frying the edamame with lots of flavoursome ingredients added. In Ippudo at The Gardens Mall, the chefs have come up … [Read more...]
IPPUDO @ Bangsar Shopping Centre – New Menu!
Have you tried the new Mazesoba Ramen from Ippudo? It’s something very different from the regular ramen. For one, it’s a “dry” rendition, much like our local “kon loe” style where noodles are tossed with sauce and condiments. This Japanese-style “mixed ramen” is a serving of thick chewy noodles with 9 unique ingredients. The 9 ingredients are nori, cha shu, crunchy noodles, garlic, spring onion, minced pork, lime, leek and an onsen tamago (poached egg). The idea is to toss … [Read more...]
STEAMBOAT AT XIN, CONCORDE HOTEL KUALA LUMPUR
There was an evening when we were caught in a massive traffic jam right in the centre of the city. It was raining, chilly and traffic along Jalan Ampang had hardly moved in the last 30 minutes. Stuck in the car and with tummies growling louder every minute, we were craving for something hot and soupy. Steamboat! Yes, that would be perfect for a cold wet evening. As our car inched forward towards Jalan Sultan Ismail, we had a lightbulb moment - with the Concorde Hotel right by the corner, we … [Read more...]
GATHER GATHER KITCHEN, KOTA KEMUNING
This particular shoplot facing the main street of Kota Kemuning’s commercial centre has seen several eateries occupying it for the past few years. The latest restaurant is catchily name Gather Gather Kitchen and the new owners have taken over for the past several months. It is fast gaining popularity among the residents in this neighbourhood - it’s always busy whenever I pass by. A recent dinner there revealed why diners are always flocking the place. The food tasted good generally, … [Read more...]
RICE DUMPLINGS from YONG SHENG CONFECTIONERY to celebrate DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL
On the 5th day of the 5th month of the Chinese lunar calendar, the Chinese celebrate Duan Wu or Dragon Boat Festival. Legend has it that this date commemorates the death of patriotic poet Qu Yuan who drowned himself more than 2,000 years ago when his beloved Chu state fell to the State of Qin. According to the legend, the locals made rice dumplings (“zongzi”) and threw these into the river to lure the fishes away from eating his body. And that’s how the tradition of making rice dumplings wrapped … [Read more...]
SKIPPYS – the Real Pork Pizza Co @ Damansara Utama
There aren’t that many eateries that serve porky pizzas and pastas and Skippys is one of those in this arena. They first started in Phileo Damansara and have recently opened another outlet in Damansara Uptown which is good news for pork lovers around there. Located in the same row as The Ship, Skippys is a casual restaurant with simple furnishings - a place where you can just chill out with some cold beer and your favourite porky dishes. Simple set-up... let's just get on with the … [Read more...]
BRAZZO CASCADES: Gastropub, Steakhouse, Wine Bar
Dataran Cascades is pretty new, in fact, it’s so new that we almost missed it. It’s not fully tenanted yet and there are just a few eateries within the vast building. One of them is of course Brazzo, located on Level LG, fronting the colourful water fountain. Guests in Brazzo get a visual feast every night when the lights and water come alive at the fountain. The al fresco dining space between the two air-conditioned segments of Brazzo Brazzo is not just an eatery - it's a … [Read more...]
THE POINT KL Restaurant & Bar, Damansara Heights
It was my first time to The Point KL Restaurant & Bar as they were launching their latest menu. It also happened to be their 2nd anniversary in March. Well, I guess that’s about the right time to refresh the menu. Available since end February 2016, there are numerous refreshing takes on the Tapas, Brunch, Dinner and Dessert selections. Well known for their signature style of local, Asian, European and Mediterranean items, the new fusion-style dishes take on certain unique twists from … [Read more...]
