For this whole month of October, Hilton Kuala Lumpur has been abuzz with a host of activities and they all have something to do with Britain. Yes, they celebrated the GREAT Festival and it’s all about the very best of what Britain has to offer. This campaign was held in collaboration with the British High Commission Kuala Lumpur. With the hotel transformed into a food experience venue with daily activities from its 10 restaurants and bars, guests had the opportunity to explore the unique … [Read more...]

Driven by passion and a great love for food, Sim Hon Sing decided to quit the corporate world and succumbed to his dream of living a culinary lifestyle fulltime. Together with his lovely wife, Magarita, both of them have opened up their gorgeous house to welcome guests who wish to experience private dining on a personal level. A self-taught chef, Hon Sing was introduced to the world of cooking by none other than his mother. As a kid, he used to love watching and helping his mother cook up … [Read more...]
NOSH UP @ The Atria Shopping Gallery, Damansara Jaya
After considerable success from their 1st outlet in Jaya Shopping Centre, Nosh Up recently opened at the Atria Shopping Gallery. Much like its sister outlet, the decor is similar – simple, casual with some rustic touches here and there. The menu is also similar, offering regular cafe dishes with some twists. I believe there has also been some adjustments in the execution of some of their dishes, working on feedback garnered from the Jaya Shopping Centre cafe. Take the Lamb Pie (RM24), … [Read more...]
Tapas at Fiercer @ Publika
When Herukh Jethwani and his lovely wife Aahana were honeymooning in Spain, they were enthralled with the variety of delicious tapas served everywhere in that land. Thus the idea to formulate something similar back home in Fiercer was born and they experimented with the possibility upon their return. After numerous trials and testing in the kitchen, a series of avant-garde tapas done Indian-style have now been included in the menu at Fiercer. Slices of baguette are toasted … [Read more...]
MANMARU ROBATAYAKI & BAR @ Atria Shopping Gallery
The revamped Atria Mall in Damansara Jaya has caused quite a stir in the neighbourhood. After so many years of “renovation”, the revamped and enlarged mall looks nothing like what it used to be. There are quite a number of eateries in the mall and several serving Japanese food. Manmaru Robatayaki is one of the bigger ones there. Some of you may have heard of Manmaru Udon (read my review here) and yes, Manmaru Robatayaki is owned by the same people. The menu here is impressive, both in … [Read more...]
PIGGY TAIL, Bangsar Baru
I lost count of the number of times the word “piggy” appears on the menu of Piggy Tail. This eatery, hardly a year old (opened since November last year) located in the busy Telawi area of Bangsar is packing in pork lovers by the droves. Looking at the menu, which is full of all sorts of porcine delights, it’s kinda difficult to make a selection because everything looks good. The goodies are grouped under “Breakfast”, “Salads”, “Soups”, “Pasta”, “Piggy Burgers”, “Rice” and “Desserts”. In … [Read more...]
Enorme @ PJ Centrestage
Right smack in the centre of the podium of PJ Centrestage is Enorme. You can’t miss it. Actually, I didn’t even know about this PJ Centrestage until someone told me about Enorme. Opened since last December, Enorme has been quietly dishing up simple Italian fares to its clientele. Basically it’s a pizza and pasta joint, with some antipasti and mains thrown in. Oh, it also has a Brunch menu. “Enorme” is enormous in Italian and the inspiration for this chosen name lies in the … [Read more...]
Good Friends Cafe, Subang Jaya
With such a simplistic name, the vision behind this place is crystal clear. Obviously the owners want it to be a place where good friends (and family) can gather to enjoy simple honest meals that won’t bust your wallet. Food served here has a “homey” feel and the chefs are geared and passionate about cooking healthy food, real food made from scratch in their kitchen. Everything, from the soups to sauces to cakes, are all made in the kitchen of Good Friends. I’m not much of a pumpkin soup … [Read more...]
Celebrity Chef Edward Kwon heats up InterContinental Kuala Lumpur
The InterContinental Kuala Lumpur has just kicked off their World Celebrity Chef Series 2015 with the appearance of Celebrity Chef Edward Kwon, a top chef from South Korea. For weeks, photos of the incredibly hot-looking Edward Kwon have been flooding my Facebook timeline. It’s not surprising his legion of fans go ga-ga over him with many of them expressing their adoration and support in social media. So when I received an invitation from the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur to meet him … [Read more...]
