The Chinese New Year is associated with spring – the season for new growth, vitality, rejuvenation and all things hopeful – good reasons for celebrations indeed. Bright cheerful colours herald the dawning of this season and to welcome a new year. It is therefore timely that the celebratory feasts curated at Xuan Yuan in One World Hotel reflect the bright and refreshing colours of spring. Starting from the Yee Sang, the riot of colours in this prosperity salad is proof enough that spring … [Read more...]

Not many of us have the time or inclination to bake our own cookies for festive celebrations. If you are thinking of the latter, then perhaps you have heard about Yong Sheng Confectionery. Leng Loong Seafood Restaurant – where Lenggong favourites abound!
This no-frills restaurant serves simple home-style dishes, leaning more towards Kong Sai (or “Kong Xi”) flavours. Its location in Taman Equine may seem a bit off-the-beaten-track but it’s actually fairly easy to get there, coming from the Kesas Highway. The chef is from Lenggong, a little town in northern Perak with a major community of Kong Sai residents. So that explains the Kong Sai influence in the dishes here. With the Chinese New Year upon us and 15 days of celebration ahead, if you … [Read more...]
