The other day LL came home all excited about some noodles joint he’s tried and was all eager to introduce me to. He was raving about the special noodles he’d eaten there and couldn’t wait to take me there! “So where is this noodles place?”, I asked LL. He said “I don’t know”. See, that’s LL for you. “BUT, I know how to get there!” he added. Okaayyy… well, considering that the last eatery LL recommended me turned out to be very good, I was game to go check out his latest discovery.
So, one fine Sunday morning we all ended up at Uncle Seng’s Noodles. It’s located right smack in what is known as the “students’ eateries” row in Jalan SS15/4B, Subang Jaya. Apparently this place is very popular with students studying in Taylor’s, Inti and several other colleges around that area.
Noodles with Char Siew,Curry Chicken & Wantan
Here at Uncle Seng’s, the home-made noodles are the stars. They are slightly thicker than the usual wantan mee, lighter in colour and texture-wise, they are delightfully smooth, slightly spongy and definitely freshly-made! The noodles are served sans black soya sauce, so don’t be put-off by the pale-looking serving. At first sight, they may look insipid and “tasteless” (because many of us associate “tastiness” with darker hue, as far as noodles are concerned, I guess!).
However, once you slurp in those noodles, you’d be amazed that they are actually very tasty and aromatic.
Noodles with Deep-fried Pork
Noodles with Deep-fried Port, Mushroom & Chicken Feet
Uncle Seng has kept the choices simple and basic. All noodles are served “dry style”, ie no soupy noodles here. Toppings range from the usual char-siew, wantan, curry chicken, chicken feet mushrooms, shredded chicken and deep-fried pork. I would say the toppings are all average… did I mention the noodles are the actual stars?
Yep, I’d be happy to just slurp some Plain Noodles here.
It’s easy to see why this place is such a hit, especially with students. Prices start from RM5 for a plate of noodles with 1 topping and go up to RM8 for noodles with 3 toppings. Menu and ordering is fuss-free; just mark out your choices on the piece of photostated menu-cum-order sheet!

You forgot to give special mention to their home made chilli sauce! hehe.. they’re the bomb! We usually pour them over our noodles, liberally.. it’s so good! 🙂
Pureglutton says
Hmmm… actually I found the chilli sauce rather bland (that’s why I didn’t mention it!). The pickled green chillies were better.

everything looks yummy, except for the chicken feet! i’m scared of chicken feet, heheh 😀
Pureglutton says
LOL… I wonder where that fear stemmed from? :O

Got green pickled chilli.. pass! I like eating my noodles with lots of them chillies. How’s parking around here?
Pureglutton says
Yes, those green pickled chillies were good…crunchy with the right flavours! Parking can be quite a problem there esp. during peak hours. I saw many double-parked too. Well, just have to see whether you’re lucky or not… or park a bit further down.

Ooh the thickness of the noodles is just right – I usually hate the skinny ones but of late, have been finding fault with the fat ones too, like udon. This is the perfect in-betweener!
Pureglutton says
LOL, Min – you are so picky! Faster go try this “perfect in-betweener”!

Oooo… this is very near to my fav pork noodles! Same street I reckon!
Pureglutton says
Ahh… that famous Pork Noodles of Subang?
J2Kfm says
Yup, just don’t come when it’s scorching hot out there. The heat dissipates throughout the whole premise. Nowhere to run, but sweat buckets while slurping on your noodles.
Though the chili sauce is good, not as bland lah …. no?
Pureglutton says
They do have aircond, so it’s not so bad. Yes, i thought the chilli sauce was bland… maybe we got a watered-down version?!
