The brand “XFrens” refers to a chain of popular restaurants located in Kemuning Utama, Subang, Puchong and Setia Alam. Yes, they are popular – I have seen the queues, especially during peak hours. Their repertoire of dishes are mainly the kind of comfort food served in local “dai chow” and Chinese restaurants, as what we found out and we’ve been dining here a few times. A favourite among many is their Stir-fried Sang Cheong with Dried Prawns & Chilli Padi. Essentially piggy … [Read more...]

HARI RAYA 2022
In 2020 and 2021, Hari Raya was miserable and not celebrated the way it should be – ie balik kampung and bonding with families and loved ones, no thanks to the various lockdowns during the pandemic. This year, finally – the situation has improved and there’s actually light at the end of this long dark tunnel! I’m so glad my Muslim friends could balik kampung (oh, the monstrous traffic jams exiting the city!) and for the rest of us, many took the opportunity to have a week-long break. I … [Read more...]
YUAN ROOM @ 1Utama Shopping Centre
As the latest addition to the Oriental Restaurants Group, Yuan Room has certainly made its presence felt at this popular shopping mall in Bandar Utama. Occupying a prime lot facing the main entrance to the mall, you can’t miss it. Unlike most of the other Oriental restaurants, Yuan Room’s dining space is not all that big but they do have an al fresco terrace and a couple of private rooms as well. Browsing through the menu, we spotted many Oriental signature modern Cantonese dishes. … [Read more...]
ORIGIN Pillows Review
For quite some time now I have often woke up in the morning with a stiff neck. No matter what sleeping position I engaged, the stiffness by the side of my neck would take many rounds of stretching and massaging before I can feel some form of relief. I’ve tried raising my pillow and even doing away with a pillow but all to no avail. I searched the internet looking for solutions and consulted friends. I know very well that the pillow plays a major role in this but I was asking … [Read more...]

Vegetable Curry Dip with Refried U.S. Pinto Beans
The speckled pinto bean is not only nutritious but very versatile for cooking. Rich in protein, it also contains phosphorus and manganese and is very high in dietary fibre and folate. These mashed and refried pinto beans are a life-saver for busy people. Personally, my family love the dips I make with these refried beans, usually eaten with tortilla chips as a healthy snack. To give it more colours and flavours, I like to add in chunky bits of vegetables in my dips. Here, I’d like to share … [Read more...]
