After all, Nobu Kuala Lumpur is the first Japanese restaurant to have introduced this unique style of high tea, available only on weekends. Now, high teas have always been a common feature in most hotels and it’s usually a … [Read more...]

FOUR POINTS BY SHERATON, PUCHONG
Weekend brunch, lunch and hi-tea are quite the norm these days. While the singles and couples prefer the latest hipster cafes in and around town, families with young children prefer to go to places which have special facilities for kids. After all, if kids get to enjoy themselves, the parents would enjoy their meals much better, agree? The Eatery at Four Points by Sheraton in Puchong is one such premise that features a friendly kids-corner for their Weekend Hi-Tea Lunch Buffet. … [Read more...]
10 REASONS TO VISIT SRI LANKA
‘Why Sri Lanka?” That’s the question I was asked numerous times when it was known that I was heading there recently for a vacation. And why not Sri Lanka? It’s been on my bucket list for a couple of years now as I have heard good things about this pearl-shaped island south-east of India. I’ve heard of their kind and humble people, its rich history and culture and of course, the delicious food! Sri Lanka is a diverse and multicultural country. With a rich Buddhist heritage, it is also home to … [Read more...]
GO KELANTANESE AT TOKB CAFE, SECTION 13 PETALING JAYA
When Puan Norma Bt Salleh from Kota Bharu was persuaded to relocate to cook up her famous Kelantanese dishes at a cafe in Petaling Jaya, I’m sure she didn’t quite expect that the cafe would turn out to be a military-themed one and fully decked out in WWII memorabilia! Short for “Taste of Kota Bharu”, TOKB is unique, being the first ever military concept cafe serving affordable Kelantanese dishes. The founders of the cafe want to preserve history and highlight the role Kota Bharu played in … [Read more...]
THE ANDAMAN, LANGKAWI: DINING INDULGENCES
As the last visit at The Andaman, Langkawi was a short one, besides breakfast at The Restaurant, we dined at two of their other F&B outlets… TEPIAN LAUT As its name suggests, Tepian Laut is “by the sea” and it’s al fresco dining at its best. Beneath huge shady rainforest trees, guests get to feel the raw sea breeze blowing in from the Andaman Sea and that somehow enhances the appetite significantly. The a la carte menu for lunch features a solid selection of local … [Read more...]
CELEBRATE WITH THE ORIENTAL GROUP – 16 YEARS OF CHINESE CULINARY EXCELLENCE!
I remember the first time I dined at an Oriental restaurant was at the old Jaya Shopping Centre and yes, of course, that easily must have been more than 15 years ago! And that was actually the very first restaurant opened by The Oriental Group. Therefore, to say that I have been associated with this group of restaurants since they started, is a “true story”! That Oriental restaurant was a regular dining place for us, simply because we loved the food there. We loved it then and we still love … [Read more...]
HUBBA HUBBA MONT KIARA
When you enter the Seni Mont Kiara Condominiums , look up and you will see the sweet pink sign for Hubba Hubba Gastrobar perched on the 1st Floor. This is the 3rd outlet of Hubba Hubba and if I were a resident of this condominium (but I can’t afford it, really), I’d be mighty happy with this eatery right at the doorstep. I mean I practically fell in love with the gorgeous rustic yet elegantly comfortable ambience of the place. The welcoming factor took a notch higher with the big … [Read more...]
I-PO: Best Roast Ducks in Klang?
I have heard much about this place and how people have raved about the roast ducks here. At a recent brunch at Restoran I-Po in Bayu Perdana, Klang, I found their roast ducks really did fly off the hooks at an incredibly fast rate. The golden glistening skin of the ducks crackled even as the staff was chopping up the roasted fowls at the front of the restaurant. And oh my, the chopping never really stopped! Typical kopitiam-style, the restaurant has an air-conditioned section … [Read more...]
