Rendez-Vous in Bangsar appeals to just about everyone looking for a casual French meal in a laid-back atmosphere. Their menu offers a good selection of typical traditional French dishes and to enjoy a meal here won’t bust your wallet either. Owners Arnaud Chappert and Florian Nigen (who also ruled the kitchen) ensure that their customers get to dine on affordable authentic French cuisine in a relaxed and charmingly rustic ambience. Check out my earlier review here. Chef Benjamin … [Read more...]
Croisette Cafe – classic French delights in a cosy casual setting
So I heard that recently Croisette Café has gone rogue… err… I mean they have gone oink oink! That’s the best news I’ve heard in that week. In case you haven’t heard, Croisette Café, tucked away by the poolside of the Cascadium Condominium in Bangsar is owned by husband and wife team – Chef Pierre-Marie Chaillou and the lovely Michelle. It’s a cosy casual little place but from its simple kitchen comes delightful French fare prepared with love by Chef Pierre. With the introduction of … [Read more...]

Trained in French cooking in Europe, Chef Yee keeps his menu tight as he prefers to offer items which are ever-popular using the best and freshest ingredients for the day. Maison Francaise – be totally pampered by its Sunday Brunch!
Maison Francaise is one of those gem of a restaurant which, when you step into it, you immediately feel a rush of well-being, awe and comfort, all at once. Tucked in an almost secluded spot on a road very less-travelled (at least, for me… in fact, I didn’t even know such a road existed!) this charming French House – that’s what “Maison Francaise” means, is set to impress. I can’t help but be marvelled by the chic simplicity of the main dining area… the windows so prettily dressed with lacy … [Read more...]
Millesime @ Solaris Dutamas, Kuala Lumpur
I have heard much about Millesime at Menara Kencana Petroleum – the kitchen of which was set up by Chef Max Chin and it’s his favourite playground where he cooked whatever he felt like it for the day, a la “Private Kitchen” style. There was no structured menu and diners just have to sit down and see what the chef had in store for them for that particular meal. Well, now that Chef Max has moved on to a more consultative role elsewhere, the kitchen of Millesime is helmed by Head Chef … [Read more...]
Scrumptious Bites at The Bread Shop, Damansara Heights
The Bread Shop in Damansara Heights has been serving and delighting their customers with their gorgeous breads and pastries for a number of years now. Recently, they introduced their latest French-style pastry: the Kouign Amann (read my post here) and they are proud to be the first bakery in Malaysia to offer that. Well, the kouign amann is not the only item that I love in The Bread Shop. There are quite a few others that I crave and these are their staple items, really. Banana … [Read more...]
Renoma Cafe Gallery @ Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur
Is it a gallery? Is it a café? Is it a fashion lifestyle store? Those are usually the questions people ask when they step into Renoma Café Gallery – that spanking new establishment with the bright red Renoma sign along Jalan Bukit Bintang, diagonally across the Prince Court Medical Centre. Actually, the answer is: All of the above! Many years ago, I got acquainted with the brand “Renoma” through its popularity in ready-to-wear fashion clothings, accessories and of course, the famed … [Read more...]
Dining at The Chef’s Table @ The Chalet, Equatorial Kuala Lumpur
Dining at The Chef's Table is a whole new experience for me. Traditionally, the Chef's Table is reserved for a special group of diners where they get to taste special dishes concocted by the chef. And usually this table is located near the kitchen, for closer attention by the chef. Apparently this is very popular in the UK, with many fine restaurants in London offering this concept - the noteworthy ones are those run by the likes of Gordon Ramsay (Maze, Claridges) and Marcus Wareing. Recently, … [Read more...]
Bistro á Table, Section 17 Petaling Jaya
Bistro á Table - this name seems to be on almost every self-respecting foodie's lips the past couple of weeks. Most have been raving about the storm of "adaptive French cuisine" cooked up Personal Chef Isadora Chai in her new "hole in the wall" restaurant located in the woodier quieter side of Section 17, Petaling Jaya. The bistro pays homage to modern French comfort food which also adopt some Asian elements. "To the table" - that's the literal French translation of Bistro á Table - it … [Read more...]
