When it comes to festive feasting, restaurants all over town are churning out special set menus in anticipation of the busy period ahead. Traditional auspicious dishes are the orders for the day. Chef Kong who helms the kitchen of Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant in One World Hotel understands this perfectly. Together with his team, Zuan Yuan’s 3 festive menus are packed with traditional and well-loved dishes with some contemporary touches.
To start the meal, Yee Sang is a must to toss in every good wish for the new lunar year. The premium yee sang here has a selection of salmon, whitebait or abalone.

I’ve always loved soups and the specialty boiled soups at Zuan Yuan is always good, particularly the Braised Deluxe Sea Treasures Soup with “Song Rong” Mushrooms. The delicious woody aroma of the mushroom is somewhat like truffles, so don’t add any vinegar into this soup to overwhelm the mushroom’s aroma!

Fish and prawns are usually must-have dishes during Chinese New Year for their auspicious-sounding names. The steamed dragon garoupa we tasted was really fresh and all it needed was just some premium soya sauce to enhance its sweetness.

The set menus are priced at RM1,738.00 nett, RM1,988.00 nett and RM2,218.00 for a table of 10 with a complimentary bottle of wine. It is available daily for lunch (12 noon to 2.30pm) and dinner (6.30pm to 10.30pm) from 13 January to 11 February 2017.
