Seeing that the Mid Autumn Festival is just a couple of days away (it’s on 30 September this year), I thought I’d just share this one last post on Mooncakes. To be frank, I’m not crazy over mooncakes. But even as a non-fan, or not-so-much-of-a fan, I must say the snowskin offerings from the Hilton Kuala Lumpur are really good. I’ve tasted four of them and they are easily among the best I have tasted this year.
The Blue Moon has Amaretto lotus paste with blueberry cheese Feuillantine – just love the liquer here mixed with the light creamy cheese and crispy flakes of Feuillantine.
The Flower Drum was a best seller from last year and it’s no wonder they are repeating it this year. The snowskin lotus paste with soft custard eggyolk is pretty addictive – I can understand why this is such a big hit!
I love their Yellow Moon as well … snowskin Violet flower essence and chocolate centre with brandy flavoured lotus paste. The heady blend of floral and brandy aromas is quite intoxicating (in a nice way) and that chocolate centre is simply yummy.
Ahhh… but of course, my all-time favourite and ultimate best seller is their Heavenly Gold … snowskin with Pure Premium Musang King Durians! Durian lovers – rejoice. This is about as decadent one can go, as far as durian mooncakes are concerned. It’s pure unadulterated durian bliss. The fresh Musang King is thick, bitterish and super fragrant – just the way I like it 🙂
The Heavenly Gold is priced at RM33 nett per piece while the other 3 are available at RM19 each.
The mooncakes are sold at a special kiosk set up at the Lobby and also at Chynna, their Chinese Restaurant.
