A view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline while dining is always a high selling point in any restaurant that’s able to accommodate that. Sometimes, that view sells more than the restaurant’s food. Typically, such dining places are bound to be very popular and may be very crowded.
Cedar on 15 at the Hotel Impiana KLCC offers a great view of the Twin Towers and its surroundings and its spacious elegant setup is definitely a bonus. Matched against warm earthy tones in the walls and flooring, tables with their signature red upholstered chairs are placed far apart give a good dose of privacy to diners. I absolutely love the chic wavy cut-out design of the ceiling and the wide expanse of glass that enables guests a good view of the city skyline.
For a closer view and a sitting-on-the-edge feeling, choose the alfresco terrace.
On every table, petite bottles of Vom Fass’ premium oils and vinaigrettes are thoughtfully placed to enhance your meal. Our basket of dinner rolls was accompanied by walnut oil and balsamic pomegranate vinaigrette.
Our order of Baby Spinach Salad (RM42) with shaved parmesan, toasted pine nuts and mustard walnut vinaigrette did well with a couple of drops of the Vom Fass Pomegranate Balsamic Oil which immediately jived it up with a nice fruity scent.
Fresh Burrata Cheese (RM45) airflown from Italy was wrapped in a shiny layer of balsamic gelee served with Roma tomatoes and extra virgin basil olive oil.
Norwegian Fjord Salmon (RM58) perfumed with Lemon Basil Oil, creamed spinach and fondant potato
New Zealand Lamb Loin (RM84) baked in parsley crust served with fondant potato and oven-roasted Brassica vegetables, enhanced with Porcini Oil.
New South Wales Ribeye 220g (RM68) – this was grilled to a nice “medium rare” revealing a soft pink centre that was oozing with sweet beefy juices.
All steaks come with 1 side dish and 1 choice of sauce. Additional side dishes and sauces are available at RM14 and RM6 per portion respectively.
Dry-aged South Australian Sirloin (RM72/100g) was a bit overcooked and hard on the edges. If executed a perfect “medium rare”, it would have been a splendid piece of tender juicy steak.
Triple Layer Cheese Cake (RM38) served with Amaretto was a visual delight. The cake was dense and flavoursome and well balanced by the assorted berries on the side.
The Chocolate Molten Cake (RM36) with an injection of strawberry lime liquor was quite a tease. When cut open, thick molten chocolate flowed out, partially coloured yellow from the lime liquor sauce.
Crepe Suzette (RM44) with Grand Marnier – although an old-fashioned dessert, it never fails to please. Fluffy crepes soaked in citrusy liquer topped with a scoop of ice-cream – who can resist that?
If you are looking for a cosy elegant restaurant for that intimate romantic dinner, or just a quiet place for a business lunch, Cedar@15 is a good location, with that fantastic view to boot, too.
