What do Executive Sous Chef Azlan Juri, Chef Marubah Amran and Chef Rogayah Sharif have in common? Well, they have teamed together to come up with their best specialities in a lavish buffet spread at Concorde Kuala Lumpur’s Melting Pot for breaking of fast this holy month. There’s something about authentic kampung style dishes that appeals to most people and I personally also tend to zoom in for these in any buffet.

There are 4 different buffet menus featured on a rotational basis in Melting Pot. Look out for vegetable dishes such as tumis pucuk manis dengan keledek, kacang panjang tumis udang kering, sayur lemak nangka ikan masin and terung bakar berlada. Then, head for the crazy variety of appetizers like kerabu perut, kerabu pucuk ubi, kerabu hati ayam, kerabu daun pegaga as well as rojak buah, bergedil kentang and aneka ulam with tantalising spicy dipping sauces.
Kerabu dishes to whet your appetite!
Which is your favourite sambal?
I couldn’t help checking-out the kambing panggang, hot & crispy ayam goring berempah, sambal tumis udang galah, mee goring mamak and teppanyaki. There’s also a good selection of fresh seafood which you can get the chefs to grill a la minute – the squids were so sweet and bouncy that I had repeated helpings! If you fancy deep-fried snacks, then the stall serving “Goreng goring” should not be missed – the cekodok, cucur udang and keledek goring were dangerously addictive!

Kari Ikan Sempoi
More tempting items came in the likes of laksa Johor, mee udang, mee soto, mee bandung, asam laksa, mee kari and mee rojak. The list of mains is never-ending, be prepared to indulge in rendang tok, daging masak merah, gulai urat belimbing buluh (oh so good!), kari ikan sempoi, ketam bercili and specials like sup gearbox.

When it came to desserts, it was hard deciding between the huge variety of assorted cakes, pies, puddings, French pastries and the baskets of local kuih-muih. I particularly adored the kuih bingka ubi, kuih kole kacang, abuk-abuk, seri muka and kuih tepung talam.
The Buffet Dinner “Ala-Ala Kampung” is priced at RM148 nett per person. A special 15% discount will be given on 6-12 June and the last 3 days of Ramadhan, 3-5 July 2016.
